The GoFundMe team is searching for our first Director, Community Fundraising to help shape and scale GoFundMe’s Community Fundraising strategy, owning business outcomes, organizational health, and long-term growth. This leader operates as a strategic partner to senior leadership, aligning teams, investments, and external partners around shared priorities and impact.

Requirements

  • Bring 15+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent depth, in marketplace strategy, growth, GTM, or platform-based businesses.
  • Have led complex, cross-functional initiatives with material business impact.
  • Strong foundational understanding of digital and paid media strategy to set direction, assess impact, and ensure alignment with community fundraising goals.
  • Demonstrate a strong track record of setting strategy and delivering results in ambiguous environments.
  • Are an effective people leader with experience managing senior ICs and/or managers.
  • Excel at influencing and negotiating with executive-level stakeholders.
  • Balance data-driven decision-making with strong intuition for brand, community, and long-term platform health.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively with executives and teams.
  • Demonstrate resilience, strong judgment, and a growth mindset.
  • Are motivated by building systems, teams, and strategies that scale.

Responsibilities

  • Owns key aspects of the Community Fundraising strategy and business outcomes, accountable for translating company-level goals into a cohesive, executable roadmap across Pro and Consumer.
  • Accountable for department-level GDV, engagement, and activation goals, including short-term performance and long-term ecosystem health.
  • Determines where to invest, experiment, scale, or pull back across activation types based on ROI, brand risk, and organizational capacity.
  • Partners with senior leadership to evolve Community Fundraising into a durable growth engine, not a series of disconnected programs.
  • Anticipates market, nonprofit, and community trends to inform multi-year strategy and positioning.
  • Partner with external agencies and third-party entities to drive measurable improvements in fundraising campaign performance.
  • Works with Sr. Director to align with senior cross-functional leaders across Product, Growth Marketing, Sales, CX, Partnerships, and Global Go To Market teams around shared priorities.
  • Partners closely with Product and Technology leadership to influence roadmap direction, investment tradeoffs, and sequencing tied to Community Fundraising outcomes.
  • Represents Community Fundraising in senior leadership forums, advocating for priorities and reconciling competing organizational needs.
  • Builds strong executive-level relationships across the company to drive alignment, accountability, and execution.
  • Acts as a key decision-maker and escalation point for complex, high-risk, or high-impact activations.
  • Leads and develops a multi-disciplinary team responsible for activation strategy, execution, enablement, and operations.
  • Works with Sr. Director to define clear roles, ownership models, and success metrics across Manager-level contributors.
  • Coaches and develops senior talent, enabling strategic elevation and effective delegation.
  • Creates a culture of high accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Establishes operational objectives, policies, and processes that ensure activations launch with quality, consistency, and speed.
  • Owns planning, forecasting, and prioritization for Community Fundraising initiatives.
  • Manages budget and resourcing decisions, balancing impact, efficiency, and long-term scalability.
  • Ensures appropriate governance around brand risk, partner commitments, and customer experience.
  • Measures and communicates impact, progress, and learnings to executive stakeholders.
