About The Position

University of Tampa, a medium sized, comprehensive, private university, is seeking to fill the position of Director of Community Engagement in the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement. This position will lead in the development of co-curricular activities that are grounded in student learning outcomes. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Career Development and Engagement. As a member of the Office of Student Affairs, this position will uphold the values of data-informed practice, sense of belonging, overall well-being, professional staff development, retention and persistence, and Spartan Ready® culture. The work of this position will intentionally align with strategic focus areas to advance the mission and vision of Student Affairs which results in student learning and support for students to grow as global citizens.

Requirements

Master's degree in College Student Personnel or Higher Education.
Four (4) years of full-time, relevant experience.
Strong and broad knowledge of student development theory.
Two (2) years of supervision of professional staff.
Demonstrated experience with community and leadership engagement experience.
Flexible hours required to support evening and weekend events.
Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to be flexible and manage time effectively in a generalist, learning-centered environment.
Demonstrated proactive leadership in development of student affairs programs and collaborative relationships.
Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly University of Tampa software programs such as workday and Microsoft Office.
Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.

Responsibilities

Serve as area lead for community engagement, which includes community service and nonprofit partnerships as well as student involvement and student organization management and development initiatives.
Establish strategic and measurable learning goals for areas of governance, intentionally creates environments/programs for student learning and development to occur, and assesses at regular intervals.
Manage all relevant budgets.
Supervise the Associate Director of Service and Leadership Development; Coordinator of Student Organization Finance and Technology and Staff Assistant.
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise five student coordinators for the Bonner Leader Program, OSLE Student Marketing and Civic Engagement.
Facilitate Bonner Leader Program: select new Bonner cohorts, establish and maintain reciprocal partnerships with nonprofits, facilitate weekly trainings incorporating Bonner Common Commitments and Spartan Ready competencies, review and analyze Bonners’ hours (for requirement) each semester, implement signature events like Sophomore Exchange, guide Bonners with their capstone projects, and communicate regularly with Bonner Foundation staff.
Advise PEACE staff in planning annual domestic and international alternative break trips.
Collaborate with Financial Aid to ensure compliance with the federal work study program community service requirement.
Collaborate with faculty and provide resources for service learning, civic engagement, and voter education initiatives.
Co-chair the ALL IN Democracy Challenge Coalition and partner with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office to plan and implement voter registration and mobilization programming.
Design and coordinate marketing initiatives with staff to create awareness within the student population about services and events that are occurring within the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement (i.e. OSLE Involvement Weekly Global and campus engagement presentations for BAC classes).
Lead staff in problem solving student involvement challenges including Registered Student Organizations and InvolveUT.
Build a positive rapport with students, staff, and faculty by maintaining availability, visibility, and a genuine, concerned attitude.
Participate and represent Community Engagement in division, University, and professional activities.
Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills engaging effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
