Director, Communications

BestowDallas, TX
Hybrid

About The Position

Bestow is transforming one of the largest, most consequential industries in the world — and most people don't know it yet. That's the opportunity. The Director of Communications owns the work of changing that. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for a storyteller who thrives at the intersection of technology, business, and culture — someone who can take a complex, technical platform and make the market not just understand it, but believe in it. You'll shape how Bestow is perceived by the press, analysts, executives, and influencers who define what the industry pays attention to. This isn't a maintenance role. It's a category leadership role. You'll work alongside agency partners and Bestow's executive team to build a communications presence that punches well above its weight — the kind that makes people take notice and wonder why they haven't been paying attention sooner. This role reports to the CMO and is open to hybrid in our Dallas office or Remote (US). #LIRemote

Requirements

  • A passionate storyteller — you have a gift for finding the narrative inside complex, technical subject matter and making it resonate with a sophisticated audience.
  • High business acumen with a genuine curiosity about product — you go deep on what a company builds because you know that's where the best stories live.
  • Highly adept at media relations — you have established relationships with press, know how to drive earned coverage, and understand how to make a story land.
  • Proven experience working with executives to build strategic, impactful communications platforms that show up consistently across media, speaking, and thought leadership.
  • Proven experience in corporate communications, ideally in B2B, enterprise technology, fintech, or insurtech.
  • Experience leading agency relationships and getting the best out of external partners.
  • A track record of driving category leadership or market repositioning — you've helped a company shift how an industry thinks about a problem.
  • Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and building programs from the ground up.
  • Leverage AI tools to enhance research, content development, and the speed and scale of communications execution.

Nice To Haves

  • Analyst relations experience is strongly preferred — you've worked with Gartner, Forrester, or comparable firms.
  • Both agency and in-house experience preferred — you understand how to get the best out of agency partners because you've been on both sides.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Bestow's communications function, managing agency partners to execute with scale and quality across corporate communications.
  • Own the narrative — developing and evolving the story Bestow tells to drive category leadership and shift how the market thinks about legacy insurance infrastructure.
  • Build and execute a corporate communications strategy that earns Bestow credibility with enterprise buyers, press, and industry influencers.
  • Lead media relations with skill and intentionality — building relationships with key journalists and outlets, driving earned coverage, and ensuring Bestow is part of the conversations that matter.
  • Partner with Product Marketing to amplify major product moments — ensuring significant releases and platform milestones show up in the market with the weight they deserve.
  • Build and execute a thought leadership program that elevates Bestow's executives as credible, distinctive voices in the insurance and insurtech space.
  • Work closely with executives to develop strategic communications platforms — helping leaders show up with clarity, consistency, and impact across speaking, media, and written channels.
  • Own analyst relations — ensuring Bestow is accurately represented and well-positioned in the reports buyers consult during due diligence.
  • Partner with Product Marketing and Integrated Marketing to ensure communications amplifies and extends the broader market narrative.
  • Build reporting and measurement frameworks that connect communications activity to business outcomes.
