About The Position

T1 Energy is bringing solar manufacturing back to the U.S. by building a domestic solar supply chain. Our mission is to invigorate America with scalable, reliable, and low-cost energy. Our fully operational 5GW solar module facility in Wilmer, Texas, can manufacture more than 20,000 modules every 24 hours. By the time you finish reading this paragraph, we will have produced two solar panels that will power American homes and fuel domestic AI. T1 Energy is looking to hire a Director, Commercial Counsel to support G1, G2_Austin, and HQ by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, with a heavy focus on procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, and operational contracts. You'll help commercial teams move fast while appropriately managing risk. You'll not only review contracts, but you'll build scalable processes, refine templates, and create clarity around how legal review happens across the business.

Requirements

  • JD degree and admission to at least one U.S. state bar in good standing.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (in-house experience strongly preferred).
  • Experience drafting and negotiating procurement, supply, and commercial contracts.
  • Strong ability to coordinate cross-functionally and manage multiple projects at once.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the solar industry, manufacturing, energy, or a related technical/industrial sector preferred.
  • Familiarity with compliance, employment-related matters, or multi-site operations.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate and wide range of commercial agreements, including procurement, supply, manufacturing, services, and vendor contracts.
  • Support development and construction related contracting for G2_Austin.
  • Partner closely with commercial, operations, procurement, and leadership teams to align risk with business priorities.
  • Create and maintain contract templates and playbooks to increase speed and consistency.
  • Establish and manage clear processes for legal intake, review, and approvals.
  • Provide guidance on compliance, policy interpretation, and risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel when necessary, ensuring constant discipline and clear scope.
  • Support internal stakeholders on issue-spotting and preventative risk management.
