The Director of College Advising at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission of the university and the College of Health and Human Development. This position is responsible for the overall management, direction, and implementation of academic advisement within the college's Student Services Center/Educational Opportunity Program (SSC/EOP) Satellite. Reporting to the Senior Director of University Advising and collaborating closely with the Dean of the College, the Director will lead a team of college directors to implement the vision, goals, and objectives of the academic advising enterprise at CSUN. In this role, the Director will serve as a member of the University Advising Council, working alongside central administrators, other Directors of College Advising, and student leaders to develop best practices and strategies in advisement. The incumbent will be responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating advising staff, ensuring the effective use of advising technologies and degree planning tools. Regular use of data analytics, including disaggregated data, will be essential to drive priorities and assist with university efforts to assess campus-wide academic advisement. The Director will also identify opportunities to remove administrative barriers to student success and eliminate equity gaps. This includes communicating and interpreting CSU and University policies to faculty advising within the college, staff, and students, as well as coordinating services and activities with academic departments and entities. As a leader, the Director will demonstrate a commitment to student success that aligns with the university's vision, values, and priorities, fostering an ethical and collegial work environment that promotes collaboration, accountability, and inclusivity. The Director will encourage a solution-oriented environment and participate in developing initiatives that support the campus mission with a service-oriented mindset. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
