Job Summary: The Director, CME (Defeasance) is responsible for managing and executing the defeasance process for commercial real estate loans, ensuring all transactions are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business
  • 7+ years of experience in a commercial real estate, with a focus on managing and reviewing the defeasance process
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including financial modeling
  • Familiarity with commercial real estate finance and securitization structures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to achieve results in a dynamic setting.
  • Organizational and administrative skills that reflect attention to detail and the ability to prioritize amidst competing demands.
  • Skilled in managing sensitive information while upholding privacy.
  • Handling workload and special projects efficiently.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review loan documents to confirm defeasance eligibility and identify specific requirements
  • Model loan payment schedules and structure substitute collateral portfolios using government securities
  • Select appropriate securities to match loan obligations and coordinate their purchase and transfer
  • Communicate and collaborate with borrowers, lenders, trustees, legal counsel, and other stakeholders throughout the process
  • Oversee all aspects of the defeasance transaction, ensuring timely and accurate completion
  • Ensure strict compliance with regulatory standards and contractual obligations
  • Prepare, maintain, and archive all necessary documentation and transaction reports
  • Confirm release of property liens and update servicing records following transaction completion
