About The Position

Reporting to the VP Education & Well Being, the Club Director is responsible for providing day-to-day operational leadership and programmatic direction at a designated Club location in support of organizational mission and goals. The Club Director works collaboratively to drive outcomes. Primary areas of focus include program implementation, staff leadership, staff development, fiscal management, resource management, facility management, and risk management.

Requirements

  • Four year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of three years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment and retention of key personnel
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff
  • Ability to guide members, including leadership with conflict resolution
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management
  • Skills in fund-raising events
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders
  • Ability to become a certified driver for the organization
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, less than 5 points on DMV record, and be willing to drive company vehicles (e.g. 10-passenger van); local and statewide travel occasionally required.
  • Must be able to pass background check and necessary clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for the successful operation of the Club.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of the agency’s strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with Administrative & Club leadership to enhance Club programming and impact, seeking effectiveness and efficiencies for resource management and staffing; willingness to support throughout the region as needed.
  • Oversee the implementation and delivery of operations, programs, services, and activities that facilitate achievement of youth development outcomes.  including but not limited to the 5 Key elements for positive youth development in a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Drive Club culture, focusing on positive youth development, trauma-informed practices, and social and emotional learning.
  • Recruit and Retain high quality team members; delivering new hire orientation, onboarding and,  professional development efforts for Club staff, providing trainings, observations, and monitoring of team performance.
  • Serve in a leadership capacity on BGCD’s Safety initiatives to develop a culture of safety in the workplace that not only holistically supports employees, but is also proven to directly—positively—impact productivity and effective use of resources.
  • Lead Club safety and security planning and ensure compliance with required trainings and reporting deadlines provide leadership in emergency situations.
  • Ensuring monthly emergency response drills are executed:
  • Lock down drill
  • Evacuation/ Fire drill
  • Inclement weather drill
  • Provide coaching on safe work practices to all Club leaders.
  • Serve as point of escalation, feedback, and approval for all reportable Club incidents.
  • Support VP Education & Well Being in functions related to board development, community relations, and fundraising.
  • Provide world-class customer service to all stakeholders.
  • Ensure Club adherence to administrative and operational systems in support of organization policies.
  • Participate as needed in the organization’s strategic planning process and support the Club Advisory Council (as necessary) in setting and achieving its goals, annually assessing its performance, and following established Advisory Board guidelines, with the direction of the VP Education & Well Being.
  • Ensure high standards of ADA data collection, timely reporting and record keeping.
  • Contribute to positive brand image of BGCD and the organization’s drive to be the leading youth-serving organization in communities; collaborate with various community partners to include school officials and leaders of community-based organizations.
  • Provide the Marketing Department with Stories and Pictures of Events Regularly
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department for assistance with promoting Club Events
  • Develop Collaborative Partnerships with Schools, Churches and Greater Community
  • Monthly Facility inspections, maintain an inviting, welcoming atmosphere by partnering with the IT, Facilities and Transportation Management team to ensure the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, vans, and equipment.
  • Ensure cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic appeal of facilities and grounds
  • Ensure immediate repairs of Club equipment/grounds
  • Ensure cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic appeal of assigned vehicles
  • Schedule vehicle maintenance repairs.
  • Purchase and/or make arrangements to ensure necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Manage financial resources, by controlling expenditures against a budget, and adhering to financial management policies and procedures.
  • Support the VP Education & Well Being with fiscal procedures including (but not limited to) budget and financial statement analysis, budget preparation, balancing income and expenses.
  • Ensure the Club meets all grant-related programmatic, administrative, and reporting requirements in a timely fashion; build and maintain relationships with key partners.
  • Attain/Maintain financial support through advisory boards and special events
  • Research and Identify Individuals, Foundations, Corporations, and Prospects for funding.
  • Participate in Sustaining Gifts or other Resource Development Meetings/Sub Committee as needed
  • Manage relationship with Club’s advisory council and assist with advisory council events
  • Submit all reports in a timely manner
  • Manage controllable expenses with approved budget
  • Assure effective administrative functions are in place
  • Ensure marketing communications requirements
