About The Position

The Director of Cloud Services and Infrastructure Modernization leads CenterPoint’s transformation from on-premise data centers to cloud platforms (GCP, Azure), driving automation across workloads using Ansible and Terraform, and deploying Dynatrace for enhanced observability and monitoring of all critical assets. This role ensures cloud adoption aligns with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational resilience, while enabling a modern, automated, and highly visible infrastructure environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 10+ years in IT leadership, with 5+ years in cloud strategy, migration, and automation roles.
  • Proven experience with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure), automation tools (Ansible, Terraform), and enterprise monitoring solutions (Dynatrace, Splunk, ServiceNow integration).
  • Expertise in cloud architecture, security, regulatory compliance, and operational governance for utilities or asset-intensive industries.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating technology contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive transformation, manage complex projects, and deliver measurable business outcomes.

  • Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect Expert, or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a cloud migration roadmap, moving workloads from on-premise data centers to GCP and Azure, and rationalizing legacy infrastructure.
  • Lead automation initiatives using Ansible and Terraform to enable Infrastructure-as-Code, self-service provisioning, and rapid, consistent deployments across hybrid environments.
  • Oversee deployment and expansion of Dynatrace for full-stack monitoring, predictive alerting, and AI-driven observability, ensuring all critical systems and applications are onboarded and performance baselines established.
  • Establish governance frameworks for cloud usage, automation, cost optimization, compliance, and security, including integration with ITSM and event management systems.
  • Collaborate with business units, product teams, and cybersecurity to integrate cloud and automation solutions into operational workflows and ensure alignment with enterprise resiliency and business continuity goals.
  • Drive vendor management and negotiate cloud service agreements, automation platform contracts, and monitoring tool licenses.
  • Oversee disaster recovery planning, cloud DR processes, and business continuity for cloud environments.
  • Lead the development of operational dashboards and reporting for executive leadership, tracking KPIs such as system uptime, automation coverage, cloud adoption, and monitoring effectiveness.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of cloud engineers, automation specialists, and monitoring experts; foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
