About The Position

Reporting to VP, Infrastructure the Director, Cloud Infrastructure will own and drive the next evolution of core infrastructure services delivering innovative Network, Security and cloud services. You will encourage speed and agility through cloud adoption and automation. You will partner with Real Estate and Workplace Services to commission/refresh sites while delivering an unparalleled employee experience along with partnering with Security to ensure a safe environment for our employees through innovative capabilities that enable them to work from anywhere. The Director of Cloud and DevSecOps will lead the overall cloud strategy, automation, and continuous delivery pipelines. This senior leader is responsible for building a scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud platform that not only supports high-velocity software delivery but also specifically enables the organization's Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) initiatives. You are passionate about technology and motivated about nurturing people. You have experience delivering in a rapidly growing organization and drive meaningful outcomes working cross functionally. You champion efficient processes and are data driven through metrics. You will hire, coach, mentor a strong team of technologists who work across multiple time zones and encourage and enable them to innovate and deliver the best solutions for Guidewire. You are fiscally responsible and manage a large budget that drives critical capabilities for Guidewire, partnering with multiple vendors and partners.

Requirements

  • Cloud Platforms: Expert knowledge and experience leading enterprise cloud adoption and operations across at least one major provider: AWS: Solutions Architect - Professional, DevOps Engineer - Professional. GCP: Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer.
  • Automation (IaC/CI/CD): Deep, practical expertise with: Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible. Containerization & Orchestration: Docker and Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, GKE). Continuous Delivery: CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
  • Observability & Security: Experience implementing centralized monitoring and logging (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, CloudWatch). Expertise in DevSecOps practices, including security auditing, vulnerability scanning, and managing cloud IAM roles
  • Familiarity with data centers commissioning and maintenance and related technologies including compute, storage, hypervisors such as VMware
  • Proven security first and security by design mentality with hands on experience in security practices and frameworks such as NIST, CIS, and certifications such as CISSP and higher or equivalent
  • Experience managing global teams across multiple time zones
  • Experience defining policies, process and procedure and revamping them as needs change
  • Proven ability to think big picture but willing to roll up the sleeves and get things done with speed and agility
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and grow others and lead with conviction
  • Communicate clearly and influence others and manage and maintain strong relationships
  • Proven budget and fiscal management experience
  • This will require multiple in office days, there could be some 10%-20% travel as necessary
  • Deep understanding of project management, agile, budget management, vendor management and business continuity and disaster recovery planning methodologies and implementation

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Cloud Engineers, DevOps Engineers, and Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with engineering, security, and product leadership to align cloud and delivery roadmaps with business priorities.
  • Manage the budget for all cloud consumption and DevOps tooling, reporting on key metrics (availability, cost) to executive leadership.
  • Establish and maintain Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, including Service Level Objectives (SLOs), error budgets, and incident management procedures. This role works closely with our ops director in maintaining 24x7 Operations and uptime of services.
  • Embed security (DevSecOps) into the CI/CD pipelines by implementing automated security scanning, vulnerability testing, and secrets management.
  • Ensure all cloud infrastructure and operational practices meet security and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0, ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2, COBIT, and NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF 1.0)
  • Oversee monitoring, logging, and observability solutions to provide proactive system health insights and minimize downtime.
  • Experience and understanding managing infrastructure for Data Science teams, including familiarity with MLOps tools (MLflow, Kubeflow, AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, or GCP Vertex AI).
