Director of Clinical Service Line - Cardiac Surgery & Operations As the Clinical Service Line Director, you will participate as a member of the assigned Service Line’s Executive Council. Responsible for leading and facilitating the development of the Service Line vision and strategic plans, as well as for executing the Council’s recommendations and initiatives. Is responsible for the program’s overall financial performance. Monitors program volume and works to improve the program’s cost structure, productivity, and revenue position. Monitors program financial policies and works with Finance contracting to ensure strong financial performance. Collaborates with medical leadership to ensure cost-effective, high-quality care through the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the care management process. Responsible for the development of policies and procedures, recruitment, education, evaluation, and supervision of all support staff. Interfaces with Information Services to ensure that clinical and administrative systems appropriately support operations. Supports the Council and Service-Line’s other performance objectives, including those related to education and research, and community involvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Seven or more years of experience Hospital operations with emphasis on financial analysis
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Knowledge of human resources policies & procedures
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance
  • Knowledge of the service line’s operations

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Service Line’s Executive Council and Hospital Senior Leadership to establish the Service Line’s Vision and Strategic Plan.
  • Interfaces with Health System, Corporate Services, and Hospital senior management regarding Service Line performance to ensure the administrative, financial, human resources, information management, and customer service needs are met.
  • Liaises with various departments, including Administration, Finance, and Operations departments, as well as senior management and physicians/medical staff, to ensure optimal coordination and communication to meet operational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversees and coordinates all performance improvement projects and activities for Clinical Services Line.
  • Represents VP on hospital-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Implements, tracks outcomes, and reports on these initiatives.
  • Provides and ensures proper coordination and alignment with goals and objectives.
  • Interfaces with Physicians and maintains effective communication between medical, nursing, and support staff and the Hospital.
  • Builds and maintains productive inter/intra departmental relationships to optimize operations.
  • Directs and oversees daily operations of the Cardiology, CT Surgery, and Vascular Service lines, including operations of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Electrophysiology Lab, to ensure quality patient care while functioning in compliance with critical operational, regulatory, coding, and reimbursement guidelines.
  • Creates new policies and procedures for departments as necessary due to governmental or regulatory changes.
  • Monitors employee and departmental adherence to goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Partners with medical leadership to oversee the quality assurance and management programs to ensure high-quality, cost-effective care through the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the care management process.
  • Develops appropriate performance indicators and information, recommends improvement plans as needed, and coordinates accurate and timely reporting to Hospital departments (i.e. financial, Q/A, etc.) and external agencies.
  • Collaborates with the IS Division to ensure the clinical and administrative systems appropriately support operations: this is accomplished through joint planning, implementation, development, and maintenance of all systems.
  • Develops, implements, and manages in collaboration with key Corporate and Hospital departments, programs.
  • Initiates to ensure and promote patient, family, employee, and physician satisfaction and service excellence.
  • Supervises all Service-Line support staff, and in collaboration with HR coordinates staff recruitment, education, counseling, and evaluation, as well as ongoing development and training.
  • In collaboration with Finance, develops business plans for new or ongoing programs, develops and oversees the budget, and explains variances, presenting alternatives for achieving goals or negotiating changes in the goals with clinical leadership.
  • Monitors Service-Line volumes and works to improve the program’s cost structure, productivity, and revenue position.
  • Develops, evaluates, and manages collaboratively marketing strategies to promote the assigned Service Line and encourage volume growth.
  • Performs all duties inherent to the managerial role.
  • Participates in hiring, training, evaluation, and termination of assigned staff according to hospital policies and procedures.
