About The Position

The Director of Clinical Pharmacy will be the leader of Forecasting and would lead the team responsible for the process that forecasts $8 Billion in drug spend included in the pharmaceutical pipeline forecast. They also would be responsible for the monitoring of older (non-pipeline) agents for potential market events that would drive unanticipated changes in cost and utilization. The team also leads our trend detection process, responsible for identifying changes in actual vs expected spend, and working with key stakeholders enterprise-wide to identify potential trend benders.

Requirements

  • Pharmacy degree from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Clear and active Pharmacist license in the state(s) in which you are required to practice
  • Eight (8) years of clinical experience in managed care or equivalent experience
  • Five (5) years' experience in effectively leading direct reports and cross-functional teams
  • Three (3) years of experience drug pipeline or trend analysis and forecasting
  • Strong track record of driving solutions that achieved clinical and financial outcomes
  • Exceptional cross-functional collaboration, relationship management, influencing, and interpersonal skills
  • Impeccable oral and written communication skills, as well as the polish, poise, and executive presence to effectively interact with and present to external partners and executive and senior-level stakeholders
  • Very disciplined; has the ability to manage competing priorities and operate effectively within a large and complex organizational structure
  • Ability to engage, educate, influence and guide matrixed teams at all levels on the concepts, opportunities and strategy of managing traditional and specialty medications
  • Ability to influence and build relationships with people across all levels and organizations internally and externally

Responsibilities

  • Lead our medical and pharmacy drug trend and pipeline forecasting process including month over month, quarter over quarter and year over year trend review and ad hoc as needed
  • Proactively monitors relevant publicly available news/developments in the pharmaceutical sector to direct relevant drug pipeline investigations, expanded indications, and other key market events
  • Develop corporate communications of high quality to be distributed with senior leadership such as drug pipeline updates and market event notifications
  • Partners with clinical and business professionals, actuaries and operations in a team environment
  • Proactively highlights key drug trend opportunities leveraging insights, market trends, industry feedback to meet key objectives and leverages information to devise new or improved product offerings
  • Participates in Humana Pharmacy committees as appropriate
  • Invest in the development of associates, and the growth of the team
