About The Position

The Director of Business Operations for the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) is a senior leader responsible for the strategic, financial, and operational oversight of five outpatient surgical practices within an academic medical center. This role ensures the seamless integration of clinical care delivery, business performance, and administrative functions. In collaboration with department leadership, the Director drives initiatives to improve patient access, operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and staff engagement. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented, data-driven leader with deep experience in healthcare operations, business strategy, and multi-site practice management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Business, Nursing, or related field required.
  • Minimum 7 years in a healthcare setting with management responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of operational Budget for 5 OMFS locations, including capital budget requests and follow through
  • Direct Supervision of OMFS Practice Manager and Billing Manager
  • Track and report on KPIs, including revenue cycle metrics, RVUs, payer mix, and expense trends
  • Primary Timekeeper for department including residents and physicians
  • Approver of all Workday requests through purchasing as well as employee reimbursements
  • Responsible for all check requests reimbursements
  • Responsible for tracking special purpose gift funds
  • Liaison with Jefferson marketing
  • Collaborate with finance, billing, and compliance teams to improve reimbursement and reduce denials.
  • Liaison with Jefferson supply chain leadership to ensure OMFS vendors are paid in a timely fashion
  • Develop and implement operational protocols, performance standards, and process improvements.
  • Onboarding/offboarding of OMFS attendings
  • Manage CLIA, DOH and Radiation Producing machine Certificates
  • Support department-wide strategic planning, including program expansion, space utilization, and business case development
  • Ensure adherence to institutional policies and external regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission, AAOMS, CMS, etc.)
  • All other duties as assigned
