About The Position

Provide operational leadership in support of the Center for Innovation and Value at Parkland and provide necessary support for Chief Innovation Officer at Parkland to facilitate projects and initiatives. Interfaces and plans with the executive leadership team to identify and integrate clinical innovations for care delivery and access to care across the organization.

Requirements

  • Doctorate (MD, DO, PhD or Pharm D) or Masters in Public Health.
  • Must have ten years of clinical, operations and/or project management experience, preferably in either public health organizations.
  • Must have at least five years in a leadership position; on-the-ground experience in health care delivery systems, with expertise in working with low-income populations.
  • Extensive experience working in a health care, research, policy and/or academic environment; be perceived as an expert and leader, as well as an innovative thinker in health care delivery systems.
  • Must have Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) course certification for IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System (NIMS) or obtain within 30 days of placement in role.
  • Must have Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) course certification for IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS 100) for Healthcare/Hospitals or obtain within 30 days of placement in role.
  • Must have Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) course certification for IS-200.HCA: Applying ICS to Healthcare Organizations (ICS 200) or obtain within 30 days of placement in role.

Responsibilities

  • Directs a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals and technical staff to execute innovations in care delivery and trains medical, allied health, nursing, public health and other learners in innovative health-systems research.
  • Conducts research to evaluate the effectiveness of transformative innovations at Parkland Health leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals to disseminate knowledge.
  • Provides strategic leadership direction through developing, implementing and sustaining annual goals and strategic 5-year goals and objectives that support the mission, enterprise strategy, direction, and goals of Parkland.
  • Collaborates with medical, nursing and clinical support services to link Parkland with other institutions locally and nationally to share successful high value practice initiatives and identify new opportunities for innovation or improvement.
  • Evaluates and directs data retrieval and analysis for quality and research projects, best practices, and application of evidence-based medicine/practices based on the value added to health system while developing and maintaining positive working relationships with providers, management, and staff.
  • Determines when innovative ideas should be promoted across departments and/or disciplines and the resources needed to carry out the innovation opportunity.
  • Makes recommendations to Executives regarding trends in healthcare and assists in the budgeting process for new organization-wide initiatives and strategies that will impact quality, performance, workforce planning, operational and research initiatives.
  • Collaborates with leadership within the organization to provide a multi-faceted perspective.
  • Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of innovation by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, and actively participating in professional organizations.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the assigned department.
  • Oversees and has ultimate responsibility for selecting, training, supervising, motivating, and evaluating assigned staff and departmental learners.
  • Assesses population needs and staff capabilities, ensure maximum utilization of individual and group capabilities, while providing optimal service to internal and external customers.
