About The Position

The Regional Director provides administrative direction and coordination within the Centralized Clinical Admitting department of the Clinical Command Center. This individual manages health-system business and operational activities for efficiency and compliance. The Regional Director helps to establish short and long term goals and objectives for the department and applicable system units, in line with Mount Sinai Health System, as well as with federal, state and city regulatory agencies. The incumbent directs and administers system-wide programs designed to develop, enhance and support the standardized goals and operational and strategic plans within multiple departments within the enterprise and will travel within the enterprise to implement these plans and monitor its compliance. This position requires regular on-site presence across multiple health system hospitals to support operations, staff engagement and leadership presence.

Requirements

  • Master's degree highly preferred. Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in health care administration, at least 3 years of staff management experience, operational management in a health care environment, experience in strategic planning and development and managing resources.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Strong writing, communication and organizational skills.
  • System collaboration will require travel within multi-site departments across the Mount Sinai Health System enterprise.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships through effective engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the daily operation of department, including creating and implementing integrated, standardized systems to track and report compliance. Manages work assignments and identifies and resolves issues.
  • Directs and administers programs and system initiatives in collaboration with health system and departmental leaders in the strategic and operational planning of the department(s). Ensures compliance with MSHS policies and procedures.
  • Defines and documents procedures, identifies process and workflow changes for continuous improvement and implements best practices for greater efficiency. Provides process improvement assistance where needed, and evaluates and develops efficiency work flows where applicable.
  • Serves as system point-of-contact for interdepartmental communications in order to maintain standards, implement improvements, define and measure progress and meet business objectives.
  • Establishes goals and objectives for each department that are consistent with MSHS policies and federal, state and local regulations.
  • Works to ensure institutional and program compliance and adherence to regulations. In collaboration with department leadership, develops and implements program guidelines and quality improvement plans.
  • Collaborates among system-wide departments to effectively coordinate and implement operational activities. Facilitates and encourages effective communications across functional areas.
  • Administers policies regarding hiring and placement and orientation of all staff. Prioritizes and delegates work activities.
  • Provides oversight to management staff to ensure compliance with established practices, to implement new policies and to keep employees aware of changes and current standards.

  • Assists in the selection, employment, development, and management of employees. Responsible for staff performance appraisals, disciplinary action, and interactions with all applicable bargaining units. May attend administrative labor grievances as requested.
  • Ensures staff training is timely and appropriate for all departmental protocols and continually monitors staff development metrics.
  • Monitoring activities to meet standards of compliance with regulatory and ethical standards regarding safety of patients, employees and property. Identifies contingency plans for potential risks.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by senior leadership.
