About The Position

This position is responsible to provide supervision and direction for all activities within the plasma collection center. The primary areas of responsibility include, production, regulatory compliance, budget management, human resources management, and information systems management. The ability to meet production goals while remaining in a state of regulatory compliance is critical to this position. The Director, Center Operations provides the management and administrative planning of all Center activities to achieve company and regulatory objectives using standard operating procedures (SOPs), training, establishment of work performance objectives, team building, and any other activity as deemed necessary. The Director, Center Operations directs activities to ensure timelines achieved, center staff communication is effective and routine, production goals are achieved, and donor satisfaction is maximized with the intent of providing a safe, healthy, and friendly environment for both donor and staff. This individual acts as a liaison with corporate office functions.

Requirements

  • College degree in business administration or biological sciences program preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Four (4) years of experience in the medical field.
  • CPR certified or the ability to obtain certification preferred.
  • Ability to train others required.
  • You will be required to work within a cold environment, -30°C, for short periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, pull, or tug up to 40lbs.
  • Work requires extended periods of standing and bending.
  • Occupational Exposure to blood borne pathogens.
  • Available to work extended shifts.
  • Ability to drive for extended periods (two hours at a time).
  • Ability to drive or fly to company/industry meetings or training as determined by supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and makes available staffing and supervision as required by regulatory authorities to ensure donor safety and compliance.
  • Ensures production targets are met using a continued and scheduled cycle of "plan, do, review, and action" steps.
  • Monitors donor flow to ensure donors are processed within pre-defined timeframe and seeks ways to improve operational and financial efficiencies.
  • Ensures center meets annual production and expense budget targets.
  • Ensures project plan for opening new centers is followed and scheduled timeframes are met.
  • Ensures medical supplies and other company resources are used as intended by routinely monitoring inventory against usage.
  • Ensures equipment is maintained, validated, and available so maximum donor flow can be achieved.
  • Ensures plasma shipments are ready for pick up at the scheduled time and date.
  • Ensures responsible staff members are on call for freezer response 24 hours per day seven days per week.
  • Observes center in operation several times per day to ensure high standards of operation are maintained.
  • Develops a mechanism for feedback from donors regarding customer service.
  • Performs responsibilities associated with the look back of positive or unsuitable units.
  • Sets an example of good work ethic and instills good work ethic in staff.
  • Maintains competence with all position required tasks.
  • Provides routine feedback to supervisor through one-on-one communication, telephone updates, action reports and other management reports as requested.
  • Gathers information for management reports to meet deadlines and shares information with staff daily by posting and biweekly in staff meetings for feedback.
  • Monitors and provides feedback to supervisor on effectiveness of advertising campaigns.
  • Provides frequent positive and constructive feedback to staff in accordance with the training model.
  • Ensures all annual evaluations for performance and salary adjustments are performed timely.
  • Ensures trained and competent staff members are available to support safe donation activity and enable regulatory success.
  • In cooperation with QA, ensures center maintains state of readiness for regulatory and customer audits.
  • Ensures management staff and QA are working together to effectively resolve all identified deviations from process.
  • Ensures center internal audits are executed on a routine basis and that corrective actions are completed in accordance with agreed timeframes.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
