About The Position

AngloGold Ashanti is looking for a Director, Capital Projects Procurement to lead the supply chain function across our capital projects and ensure their successful execution from concept to operations. This is a hands-on, strategic role where you'll drive excellence, optimize costs, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver world-class results.

Requirements

Proven track record in leading large-scale capital project supply chain operations.
Strong understanding of project controls and capital project execution.
Ability to develop and implement strategic programs and policies that impact regional or large-scale EPC/EPCM projects.
Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Strong understanding of legal terms and conditions related to procurement and contracts.
Experience managing complex projects and cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution.
Skilled in negotiating complex agreements with suppliers.
Lead supplier management, facilitating relationships between internal stakeholders and suppliers.
Ability to draft complex work scopes and compensation agreements for varied execution strategies.
Ability to make independent, strategic decisions that drive long-term business success.
Effective communicator, able to present complex proposals, influence stakeholders, and foster collaboration.
Experience leading diverse teams across multiple regions.
Skilled in managing third-party contractors and service providers.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field with relevant industry experience.
Extensive experience with SAP MM module.
15+ years of experience in major or mega capital project procurement.

Responsibilities

Shape and execute supply chain strategies for capital projects, from early-stage planning through feasibility, execution, and handover into operations.
Provide procurement leadership and guidance to project teams globally, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Collaborate with engineering, construction, and operational teams to develop integrated solutions that maximize value.
Lead cross-functional teams to implement improvements, drive innovation, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Collaborate with category management and technical advisory teams to standardize equipment, goods, and services, ensuring the lowest total cost of ownership.
Evaluate EPC, EPCM, and prime contracts, providing proactive solutions to supply chain challenges.
Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure safe operations across all projects.
Support project stakeholders in cultivating a high-performing team culture aligned with AngloGold Ashanti's vision and values.
Advise senior leadership and project stakeholders on complex procurement and supply chain matters.
Lead mentoring and development of your teams, promoting collaboration and high performance.
Ensure clear, timely communication across teams and stakeholders.
Develop and execute procurement strategies that minimize costs and risks while meeting project objectives.
Manage supplier relationships, negotiations, and risk management activities.
Oversee contractors and ensure compliance with HSEC standards, high-quality data capture, and efficient field operations.
Identify cost savings, risk reduction opportunities, and ensure operational readiness for project handover.
