About The Position

As a Director of Capital Markets & Risk, reporting to the Treasurer, you will oversee and manage all aspects of the company's capital markets activities. You will be primarily responsible for developing strategies for debt financing, investments, liquidity management, and optimizing the company's capital structure to support ongoing operations and future growth. Additionally, you will be responsible for the global risk management strategy, including property, casualty, workers' compensation, and management liability insurance programs. As a director, you will collaborate with banks, insurance brokers, and other internal departments like Finance, Legal, HR, IT, Security, and Operations to develop and implement risk mitigation techniques and ensure compliant and cost-effective insurance programs. This is a hybrid role located in our Research Triangle Park, North Carolina office and the ideal candidate will be expected to be in the office 3 days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Legal, Finance, Accounting, or Risk Management required; Masters or MBA preferred
  • Related professional certifications desirable (e.g. CFA, CTP, CRM, etc.)
  • 10 years of experience working in capital markets, insurance and risk management
  • Experience building high-performing teams and mentoring/developing talent
  • Experience working on acquisitions and integration
  • Strong understanding in Claims Management and settlements
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Advanced technical skills with Bloomberg, Kyriba, FXall, Oracle Cloud, and Power BI are desirable

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for managing the company's capital structure, including debt financing, commercial paper and revolver, while optimizing investments and liquidity management to support ongoing operations and future growth.
  • Oversee capital return program in accordance with executive guidance; manage team in executing dividend and repurchase programs.
  • Optimize the centralization of cash through cross-functional collaboration with various internal stakeholders including Treasury, Tax, Accounting and Legal.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with banks, financial partners and technology vendors.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of capital markets, economic trends, and interest rate movements to provide insights and recommendations for treasury operations and financial strategies.
  • Partner with the business, acting as an internal consultant to advise on shareholder value creation for various activities and analysis, including the cash conversion cycle, internal capital structure, and lease versus buy activities.
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and compliance requirements related to capital markets activities, including reporting and disclosure obligations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks associated with capital market activities, ensuring alignment with the company's overall risk management framework.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with insurance carriers and brokers. Lead the request for proposal processes for broker selection. Assess insurance market trends and developments to inform pricing and coverage strategies.
  • Negotiate worldwide property, casualty, workers' compensation, cyber, and management liability insurance programs, including setting renewal strategies, negotiating coverage and pricing, and implementing insurance.
  • Act as the primary subject matter expert, offering strategic guidance on complex legal agreements. Lead high-level training sessions and foster collaboration between various functional groups and senior executives to ensure comprehensive risk management and insurance coverage.
  • Assist in resolving complex and challenging claims. Work closely with other functional groups to ensure accurate documentation and appropriate accounting reserves.
