About The Position

The Director, Business Portfolio Management is a critical leadership role within the Technology Infrastructure & Operations (TIO) and Business Enablement Technology (BET) teams. This position partners with technology and business leaders to drive strategic IT initiatives, oversee major programs and projects, and ensure alignment with organizational goals. The Director will streamline processes, manage financial and resource planning, ensure compliance with risk and governance standards, and monitor performance metrics to support operational excellence and digital transformation. This role also serves as a trusted advisor to the CIO and executive committees, bridging the gap between IT and business through systematic communication and collaboration.

Requirements

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
10+ years of relevant leadership experience in technology.
Experience in a financial services firm or within a technology or operations division preferred.
Extensive technology business and program management experience supporting executives and large teams/departments to meet organizational delivery and financial goals.
Experience driving cross-organizational initiatives.
Expert competency in prioritizing competing demands, scoping large efforts, negotiating timelines, and ensuring execution.
Deep understanding of and experience within the technology organization of a retail or investment bank, ideally at a global, matrixed organization.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and diverse initiatives and tasks, including analytical thinking, planning, prioritizing, problem solving, decision-making, and managing efforts that impact the entire organization.
Exceptional communication skills, capable of building relationships and ensuring effective communication at all levels of the organization.
Expert in crafting and delivering senior-level presentations tailored to the audience.
Effective in a team environment; able to address conflicts appropriately and build productive partnerships.
Flexible, decisive, and serves as a trusted advisor to senior leaders.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Alignment Serve as a strategic partner to the Head of TIO and CIO of MUSA, driving execution of technology strategy across the enterprise. Partner with Americas and Global IT leadership to develop and maintain the Information Technology for the Americas (ITA) strategy. Align IT leadership teams (Compute, Storage, Data, End User, Technical Service Management, Front Office, Back Office, Public Cloud) on strategic imperatives. Lead annual IT strategic planning and budgeting cycles in collaboration with technology and business leaders. Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure strategic goals align with employee performance expectations and rewards. Liaise with and ensure ITA alignment with Home Office (Tokyo) strategies and goals.
Program & Project Management Oversee delivery of high-impact technology programs and projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, on-time and on-budget delivery. Establish and maintain project governance frameworks, timelines, and resource allocation. Track progress against strategic priorities and provide actionable insights to the CIO and executive committees. Achieve OKRs and KPIs aligned with TIO/BET; inform key metrics and thresholds in fiscal year planning.
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement Streamline business processes, break down barriers, and enable ambitious business objectives through automation and efficiency. Champion process improvements and operational efficiency across TIO and BET organizations. Drive cross-functional initiatives that advance digital transformation and operational resilience. Drive adoption of best practices in Agile, DevOps, and modern delivery methodologies.
Financial & Resource Management Monitor and control financial spend, report variances, and optimize spend for increased efficiency. Collect and prioritize resource and investment demand with key stakeholders. Manage headcount planning and organizational change initiatives. Lead on- and offshoring workforce planning in partnership with management. Understand contract and vendor landscape, proactively identifying opportunities to eliminate costs.
Communication, Governance, and Stakeholder Engagement Design and lead effective information architecture to ensure efficient preparation and review cycles. Recommend and implement clear processes for efficient information flow within ITA and towards leadership teams and executive committees. Support requests for business performance and management reporting through channels such as quarterly business reviews and executive presentations. Ensure adherence to internal risk practices, strategies, and policies across all operating groups. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and operationalize standards, policies, and processes to identify, report, and mitigate operational risk exposures. Bridge the gap between IT and the business through systematic communication.
