About The Position

The Director of Business Insights will be a transformational leader responsible for evolving Zelis’ insights function from traditional reporting and dashboard delivery into a strategic, AI-enabled capability that drives better business decisions, stronger operational performance, and greater client value. This leader will set the vision for how data, analytics, visualization, and AI come together to generate actionable insights across the Payments organization. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with executive presence, a passion for building high-performing teams, and a proven track record of leading organizational change. They bring deep expertise in analytics, business intelligence, data strategy, and insight storytelling—and know how to translate data into clear, compelling narratives that influence senior leaders and inspire action. This person will raise the bar on the quality of insights, modernize how the team works, and shepherd the organization through AI-driven data and insights transformation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of relevant experience, or master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience. with a strong record of leadership and impact in business insights, analytics, business intelligence, or data strategy roles.
  • Proven success leading organizational transformation and modernizing analytics functions beyond traditional reporting into insight-driven, business-partnering teams.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience building, coaching, and inspiring high-performing teams through change. Experience with organizational design and change management.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise data architectures and BI solutions. Strong knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes, data modeling, and data governance.
  • Proficiency with modern BI and data platforms such as Sigma, Power BI, SQL, and Snowflake).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A strategic mindset, strong problem-solving ability, and a bias toward action, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Business Insights across the Zelis payments organization, transforming the function from retrospective reporting to proactive, decision-oriented insights.
  • Build a culture of transformation, innovation, and accountability within the team, shifting focus from dashboard production to insight generation, business partnership, and measurable impact.
  • Partner closely with executive leadership to identify the most important operational and client-facing opportunities where data and insights can drive performance, growth, and differentiation.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, using data-driven storytelling and strong executive presence to influence priorities, decisions, and action.
  • Lead the evolution of the team’s analytics operating model, including improved prioritization, governance, intake, delivery standards, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Elevate the quality, clarity, and business relevance of data visualizations, dashboards, and presentations by establishing best practices in visualization design, narrative development, and executive communication.
  • Drive the development of scalable business intelligence and analytics solutions that enable both self-service access and deeper strategic insights for internal stakeholders, payers, and providers.
  • Leverage Snowflake and modern BI platforms to expand analytics capabilities, improve speed to insight, and deliver measurable business value.
  • Champion the use of AI to enhance reporting, automate insight generation, identify anomalies, improve forecasting, and uncover patterns and opportunities at scale.
  • Lead the team through AI data and insights transformation, helping define how AI tools, prompt strategies, and intelligent workflows can improve both productivity and decision quality.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, finance, operations, product, and commercial leaders to understand business needs and deliver high-impact, tailored analytical solutions.
  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team of leaders and analysts, creating a strong culture of learning, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead with a people-first mindset by providing clear direction, meaningful feedback, succession planning, and development opportunities that elevate team capability and engagement.
