FlexEnergi is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth by building and expanding relationships with Coops and Munis. This role focuses on identifying new opportunities for FlexEnergi’s Capacity-as-a-Service (CaaS) and virtual power plant solutions, creating and managing the sales pipeline, creating business case for the utility, and arranging for decision maker meetings and presentations. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in scaling innovative grid solutions that support reliability, affordability, and decarbonization.

  • Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities with Coops and Munis
  • Develop and manage relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders
  • Create business case for the utility
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to align customer needs with solutions
  • Track market trends, customer feedback, and competitive landscape
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, economics, or a related field (MBA a plus)
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, partnerships, or strategy, in energy, utilities, or cleantech
  • Working knowledge of electric utility markets, DERs, demand response, VPPs, or grid services
  • Experience responding to utility RFPs and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage a pipeline, forecast revenue, and close complex, long-cycle deals
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with product, engineering, regulatory, and operations teams
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate in a fast-paced startup environment
