The Director, Business Development plays a strategic leadership role in driving ASM's products and solutions to market by deeply understanding customer requirements and developing/executing strategies that accelerate adoption and growth. This role is accountable for achieving booking, revenue, market share, and gross margin goals while ensuring customer satisfaction and strengthening ASM's competitive position. The Director will lead cross-functional collaboration with product marketing, engineering, and sales teams to launch new products, influence product roadmaps, and provide high-level customer engagement.

  • Define and execute business development strategies that align with ASM's long-term growth objectives and customer technology roadmaps.
  • Drive new product launches, differentiation strategies, and compelling value propositions for target customers.
  • Develop and implement account-specific and regional strategies to maximize revenue, market share, and penetration of ASM's solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior customer stakeholders through technical discussions, joint development projects, and strategic collaborations.
  • Oversee quotation processes, commercial proposals, and negotiations to ensure profitability and alignment with business objectives.
  • Serve as the BU's primary source of competitive intelligence and customer insights to influence product development and maintain technology leadership.
  • Partner with Sales and Operations to forecast demand, plan capacity, and ensure timely delivery of solutions.
  • MS in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related technical field required.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant work experience in semiconductor capital equipment or related industry.
  • Proven expertise with Thin Film deposition process equipment in semiconductor capital equipment; CVD/Epi process development or support experience preferred.
  • At least 8 years of product Sales/Marketing experience as a semiconductor capital equipment supplier.
  • Demonstrated success in leading strategic business development initiatives and managing executive-level customer relationships.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to develop and execute complex business strategies in a competitive market.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel internationally (up to 10%).
  • Ph.D. or MBA strongly preferred.
