Summary The Director of Business Analytics and Performance leads the design, implementation and continuous improvement of enterprise reporting analytics in support of J35: Jackson Re-Imagined initiative, the Transformation Office, other strategic projects and on-demand reporting needs. This role will collaborate to establish a data governance program, a standardized data storytelling methodology, KPI alignment, and a training and competency program for data literacy. They will partner closely with Information Technology, Finance, Human Resources and other leaders to ensure data accuracy, standardization, and governance across all operational domains. This leader is responsible for building a standardized framework for reporting analytics that empowers leaders across the organization to make data-driven decisions that advance operational excellence, financial stewardship, clinical outcomes, throughput and labor and workforce optimization. The Director will be a key architect for how Jackson tells its performance story through data - turning complexity into clarity, and data into meaningful insights.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in business intelligence, analytics, or performance improvement within a complex healthcare system. Demonstrated experience leading enterprise reporting, data governance, or analytics transformation initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment.
  • Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a systemwide reporting analytics strategy aligned with J35's transformation priorities, other strategic programs and projects, and the clinical service lines.
  • Lead the creation of an enterprise data framework that supports transparency, accountability, and performance improvement across all hospitals, service lines, and corporate functions.
  • Partner with leaders in Operations, Transformation, Finance, Nursing, IT, HR and Quality to align key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive a consistent source of truth.
  • Leads the JHS Data Governance committee to define data standards, metadata, naming conventions, and validation protocols.
  • Establish and oversee data quality processes to ensure accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of information across multiple systems (e.g., Epic Cogito, Vizient, Snowflake, etc.).
  • Partner with IT to support data integration initiatives across clinical, operational, and financial platforms to enable seamless dashboards and analytics.
  • Strong quantitative reasoning skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets, statistical trends, and financial models.
  • Proficient in descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics methods, including variance analysis, regressing, forecasting and benchmarking.
  • Ability to design and validate performance measures using sound mathematical logic and statistical rigor.
  • Deep understanding of data structures, relational databases, and query development (SQL or similar).
  • Build and lead a centralized reporting structure to support systemwide performance metrics, Operational Excellence, J35: Jackson Re-Imagined teams and all JHS Enabled Analysts.
  • Design and implement dashboards, scorecards, and visualization tools to monitor enterprise KPIs (e.g., length of stay, readmissions, OR utilization, labor efficiency, and financial performance).
  • Demonstrated skill in converting large datasets into intuitive, visually compelling dashboards and reports using Tableau or other advanced visualization suites.
  • Steward and design reporting that tells a story - moving beyond static data to deliver insights that inspire action, align teams and communicate progress for both process and outcomes metrics.
  • Simplify complexity by transforming highly technical analytics into clear, engaging visuals that resonate with frontline team members, clinicians and executives alike.
  • Promote design thinking and data storytelling principles to create an analytics culture that prioritizes meaning, not just measurement.
  • Collaborate with the Learning and Development team to create and operationalize a training infrastructure to improve data literacy, visualization skills, and reporting proficiency among the Operational Excellence and other Enabled Analysts.
  • Create standardized templates, toolkits, and guides to support consistent design, data interpretation and use across departments.
  • Mentor Operational Excellence team members, project managers, process improvement and other enabled analysts in how to communicate insights effectively through data storytelling and visualization best practices.
  • Coach and develop a high-performing team of analysts, enabled analysts and BI professionals.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and continuous improvement grounded in collaboration, integrity, and shared accountability.
  • Build strong, proactive partnerships with the IT data architecture and data science teams to ensure alignment between analytics development, data infrastructure, and governance standards.
  • Collaborate with IT leaders to optimize data pipelines, metadata management, and system interoperability that support reporting needs.
  • Partner closely with data scientists to translate predictive analytics and advanced modeling into operational insights that drive clinical, efficiency, financial and workforce transformation.
  • Serve as a bridge between technical teams and operational leaders, ensuring that analytical outputs are accurate, actionable and aligned with system priorities.
