About The Position

The Director, Business Advisory, leads WTC Utah’s advisory, research, and analytics services for Utah businesses engaging in international trade and sourcing. This role oversees a high-performing advisory team, ensures the quality and consistency of research and member deliverables, and drives the evolution of WTC Utah’s premium and state-supported trade and sourcing services. The Director serves as a trusted advisor to members, partners, and policymakers while aligning advisory work with organizational strategy and revenue objectives. The mission of World Trade Center Utah (WTC Utah) is to accelerate growth for Utah businesses through our global network, programs, and services to make Utah the crossroads of the world — one business at a time. The core components of this effort include Business Advisory Services, International Programs, Marketing and Partnerships, and Finance and Administration. All business areas work together to provide small businesses with international opportunities, develop international growth strategies, and help execute those strategies around the globe. WTC Utah works with companies in every industry across the state, identifying and delivering on opportunities to drive their global growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, international trade, public policy, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in business advisory, consulting, international trade, economic development, or professional services.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and delivering complex, client-facing advisory services.
  • Strong analytical, research, and strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and operate effectively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in business administration, economics, public policy, or related field.
  • Experience working with state-supported trade programs, public-private partnerships, or nonprofit organizations.
  • Deep familiarity with global trade policy, sourcing strategies, and geopolitical risk considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of WTC Utah’s business advisory, trade, and sourcing services to deliver measurable value, retention, and elevated service levels for members.
  • Act as the senior point of contact for members receiving Business Advisory services, ensuring strong relationships, strategic guidance, and consistent, high-quality member experience.
  • Oversee member assessments and advisory strategies that support companies in achieving international trade, market entry, and sourcing objectives.
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, and strategic insight of all research, analytics, and member-facing deliverables produced by the Business Advisory team.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop team members, setting clear expectations for analytical rigor, communication, and professional growth.
  • Maintain and evolve internal research standards, knowledge management systems, and best practices to support scalable, high-quality advisory work.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and with Business Development leadership to align advisory services with organizational priorities, revenue goals, and member acquisition efforts.
  • Serve as a senior representative of WTC Utah, presenting insights and recommendations to members, partners, and state officials and advising on trade, sourcing, and geopolitical trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
