We Are Looking to Add a Key Member to Our Compliance Team! The Bank Secrecy Act Officer is responsible for ensuring GreatAmerica Bank is in compliance with all relevant anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) regulations. This includes establishing and maintaining financial crimes policies, overseeing related first-line defense procedures, and leading the second line of defense for financial crimes compliance. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, the BSA Officer provides objective, independent assurance to the Board regarding the adequacy and effectiveness of the BSA Program. The BSA Officer is ultimately accountable for overall management of the BSA Program. As a Director, BSA Officer you will: Develop, implement, and maintain an effective risk-based BSA/AML/CFT compliance program that aligns the Bank’s business model and strategy with FFIEC BSA/AML Manual guidance Report to the Board of Directors, at least annually, on the Bank’s adherence to and the effectiveness of the BSA Program, including results of monitoring efforts. Escalate to the Board of Directors identified compliance deficiencies and required corrective action and remediation. Conduct program-level risk assessments to inform the Bank and Board of Directors as to its BSA/AML risk profile, emerging risks, and necessary areas of improvement. Provide ongoing training and guidance to the Bank and Board of Directors on BSA/AML/CFT regulations, responsibilities, and compliance practices. Stay current on proposed rule-making and final rules/laws as it relates financial crimes compliance. Administer BSA/AML/CFT/OFAC policies, procedures, and internal controls, review and update regularly. Conduct and/or oversee the monitoring and analysis of transactions for suspicious activity. Establish and maintain effective customer risk rating and monitoring programs. Ensure timely and accurate filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and maintain documentation. Respond to 314(a) alerts and maintain documentation. Manage record retention and vendor management related to the BSA Program. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies during investigations. Recruit, develop, and retain talent within the department. Conduct periodic quality assurance and monitoring activities to ensure program effectiveness. Act as the Bank’s primary liaison during regulatory exams, internal audits, and third-party assessments on matters related to financial crimes compliance. Perform other duties as requested. Conduct oneself in a manner consistent with GreatAmerica’s principles. Demonstrate a strong commitment to GreatAmerica’s success. Note: Under the Iowa Supreme Court rules governing the practice of law, all work involving the provision of legal services is to be done under the supervision of a lawyer.

Requirements

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent years of experience (required)
  • Experience: Possess a minimum of 7 years of work experience at financial institutions in a relevant field (e.g., AML/CFT, Fraud risk management). Additionally, be a subject matter expert in relevant compliance topics, including but not limited to AML/CFT compliance
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience with SharePoint and InfoPath a plus. Strong MS Word and Excel skills.
  • Applicable regulatory reporting tools and AML/CFT industry specific platforms
  • Must enjoy helping others develop and succeed in a team-based environment

Nice To Haves

  • Additionally hold an applicable industry certification, such as CAMS, CFCS, or CRCM (preferred)
