About The Position

This is what you will do: The Director, Biostatistics Business Operations has sufficient experience in the pharmaceutical industry to independently drive the strategic planning, operational efficiency, process optimization and implementation of key functional priorities of the Alexion Biostatistics department. The role involves collaboration with senior leaders, project teams, cross functional teams, and external stakeholders to ensure that the Biostatistics team meets its strategic, financial, operational, optimization, and scientific objectives. You will be responsible for: Develop and implement long-term strategic plans for the Biostatistics department. Collaborate with senior management to align Biostatistics goals with overall company objectives. Assisting with the budgeting process for the Biostatistics department, ensuring alignment with company financial goals. Participate in the management of financial performance, including resource allocation, and cost management. Design and implement efficient operational processes to support biostatistical activities across clinical trials. Lead initiatives to improve workflow, productivity, and quality within the department. Develop and manage resource plans. Support recruitment, training, and development of Biostatistics personnel. Coordinate biostatistical support for clinical trials, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and timelines. Serve as a key liaison between Biostatistics and cross functions, facilitating communication and collaboration across functional areas to execute seamless execution of clinical trial activities. Represent the Biostatistics department in external collaborations. Ensure all Biostatistics activities comply with industry regulations, standards, and best practice. Oversee quality assurance processes, including audits, and inspections of biostatistical work. Work according to agreed functional and regional Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) strategy by ensuring proper management of SHE risks, incidents, reporting, follow-up and improvements.

Requirements

  • MSc/PhD in Statistics, Mathematics (containing a substantial statistical component), or recognized equivalent to stats MSc
  • Track record of experience in leading initiatives independently
  • Experience in business planning, financial management, and operational leadership
  • High level of business process knowledge
  • Ability to identify opportunities, lead and foster cross functional collaboration, and to work across boundaries
  • Demonstrated project management skills and proven skills to deliver to time, cost, and quality in large scale complex projects

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in Statistics/Biostatistics is preferred.
  • Experience in business operations within a global biostatistics function.
  • Knowledge of current trends and innovations in biostatistics and clinical trial design.
  • Experience with financial forecasting and resource management in a pharmaceutical setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities, resources, performance targets and project initiatives in a global and regional environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage through change, and see change as an opportunity to improve performance and add value to the business
