About The Position

The Director of the Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (BRITE) at North Carolina Central University is responsible for providing overall leadership and supervision of the unit. Requirements

• Earned Ph.D. (or M.D. or PharmD) in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology or a related field.
• In-depth understanding of the pharmaceutical industry or similar organizations.
• Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
• Demonstrated record of leading translational research in drug discovery.
• Successful record of obtaining external funding.
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, and collaboration skills.

• Demonstrated track record of innovation and development.
• Excellent publication and patent record.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and supervision of the Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (BRITE).
• Lead translational research in drug discovery to advance leads and candidate drugs.
• Manage organizational performance by setting high, reachable goals and defining priorities.
• Attract and lead federal/state and private funding for research initiatives.
• Implement processes necessary to accomplish objectives and measure progress.
• Initiate and manage internal and external collaborations with key opinion leaders.
• Engage in educational and academic development grants.
