About The Position

The Director, Billing will be responsible for overseeing and improving the end-to-end billing processes related to several of Hub Group’s business units. A successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-started that learns quickly and solves problems in a growing and dynamic environment. Essential Job Functions with respect to the role: Interface effectively between the individual team members, management of the business and leaders within the organization Oversee and manage the end-to-end billing processes related to the respective business units Constant focus on managing and improving results within KPIs, including DSO, AR Aging and Unbilled Revenue Proactively identify, communicate and resolve any financial, process or system issues identified on a day-to-day basis Identify underperforming areas and drive process improvements related to more accurate and timely billing with available resources Lead standardization efforts related to billing processes and build repository of desktop procedures and SOPs Interface regularly with IT to enhance system capabilities and drive efficiencies through technology and tools Understand and serve as the primary point of contact from a billing perspective with respect to customer agreements and contracts Serve as an escalation point of contact for customers with questions regarding billing activity Maintain trail of documentation throughout all processes for internal purposes as well as external audit requests, as applicable Maintain and build relationships with external service providers, as applicable Team and leadership responsibilities Oversee and manage all team members within areas of responsibility, including On-the-job training Goal setting Coaching Performance management Manage staffing needs by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, as applicable Maintain staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. Maintain roles & responsibilities matrix with respect to team member tasks

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of invoicing/billing experience within the Transportation, Logistics, Consolidation, Fulfillment, Intermodal, or Final Mile spaces.
  • Experience leading a large team of individuals in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Strong understanding of billing system processes and controls
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities as well as flexibility to adapt to change with new systems and methods while working in a team environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Preferred experience with Oracle ERP
