About The Position

The Director, Benefits at General Mills is responsible for leading the strategy, design, implementation, and management of the company's employee benefits programs. This role focuses on creating competitive and cost-effective benefits packages that attract and retain employees while ensuring compliance with regulations. The Director will oversee a team of benefits professionals and collaborate with various stakeholders to drive operational excellence and support the company's talent strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in benefits management with a proven track record.
  • Deep understanding of benefits regulations and best practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and benefits administration software.
  • Strong project management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree and/or benefits specialist certification (i.e. CEB) preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting and actuarial principles associated with financial reporting of benefits programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive benefits strategy across all core benefit areas.
  • Manage relationships and monitor performance with external benefits vendors, including brokers and insurance carriers.
  • Ensure compliance of all benefits programs with applicable local and regional laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Employee and Labor Relations on collective bargaining agreements related to benefits.
  • Analyze benefits data to identify trends and assess program effectiveness, making data-driven recommendations for improvements.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management on benefits program performance and costs.
  • Keep abreast of marketplace trends and relevant regulations to inform internal strategy.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of effective communication strategies for employee education on benefits programs.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of benefits professionals.
