About The Position

Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial services organization that serves the Episcopal Church, located in Midtown Manhattan. CPG was founded in 1917 to provide pension benefits to eligible clergy of the Episcopal Church. Since then, its mission has expanded to include life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing. Benefits Policy & Design (BP) manages the retirement, health, life, and disability plans that CPG offers dioceses, parishes, schools, and institutions of The Episcopal Church. The team works with vendors, consultants, and our Business and Corporate Units (BU/CUs) to administer benefit plans and monitor their performance, all with the aim of consistent client service. The Director Benefits Transformation will report to the SVP Benefits Policy and Design and lead the transformation & strategic initiatives for Benefits Policy. This role also serves as a strategic operations partner to the SVP of Benefits Policy, with oversight of all communications and internal project lifecycle related to CPG’s benefits business. The Director Benefits Transformation will drive the implementation of strategic benefit initiatives across all product areas—pension, health, and life. This includes guiding and holding team members accountable for change readiness, communications, cross-departmental alignment, and end-to-end coordination across the organization for key business initiatives. Expected to proactively monitor the market holistically across products and bring new solutions and ideas to the team.

  • Experience leading change management strategy, implementation planning, and communications across large-scale enterprise initiatives
  • Deep familiarity with benefits administration and vendor coordination across pension, health, and life products
  • Demonstrated success in a corporate environment (financial services or healthcare a plus), strong business acumen, ability to protect the confidentiality of data and other information.
  • BA\BS preferred. Combination of education and experience considered
  • 8+yrs of Benefits experience
  • Extensive use of a computer keyboard is a demand of the position to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a thought leader by shaping strategic direction, introducing innovative ideas, and championing transformational initiatives across all benefits business product lines
  • Work with Benefits Policy leaders to prioritize initiatives, create strategic plans, assist in thinking through the deliverable requirements and timeline.
  • Serve as cost-benefit analysis subject-matter expert, deliver presentations and status updates to internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partners, to communicate progress, surface risks, and align on next steps
  • Lead key benefits business initiatives (e.g., Annual Enrollment, and Group Life Discovery) including manage workflow and necessary resources to ensure milestones are achieved
  • Represent Benefits Policy as a liaison to Business and Data Operations, Project Management Office and corporate units to support communications, enhancements, resource allocation and planning.
  • Influence individuals at all levels across business and corporate units to ensure effective and timely completion of work, holding all stakeholders accountable.
  • Collaborate with SVP to coordinate Benefits Policy team meetings with the goal of driving organizational health, strategic alignment, identifying and prioritizing key initiatives, and ensuring team members are informed and prepared to support ongoing enhancements, and education efforts.
  • Provide operational support to the SVP of Benefits Policy by tracking key deliverables, organizing meetings and priorities, and ensuring cross-team alignment and progress
  • Oversee and coordinate all internal and external communications related to Benefits products and services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, clarity in messaging, and delivery consistency
  • Direct and coordinate change management activities across all benefit product areas (health, pension, life), partnering with leadership, and internal teams to ensure change initiatives are effectively communicated and successfully implemented
  • Serve as the department’s lead for stakeholder readiness and business process alignment across initiatives impacting client groups, internal departments
  • Coordinate the activities for the Medical/Rx Benefits Plan Committee including setting the schedule, creating the agenda, and producing the necessary documents (e.g., minutes).
