About The Position

Position Summary... What you'll do... The Director – Drone Delivery Market Expansion and Site Readiness, Automation Engineering will lead the footprint expansion of drone delivery at Walmart. In this role, you’ll own the strategy and execution of the drone site roadmap, enabling drone delivery services that redefine last-mile delivery across Walmart’s fulfillment network. This role sits at the intersection of autonomous technology, data-driven planning, and cross-functional execution – translating market expansion strategy into physical, operations-ready sites. This opportunity places you at the forefront of autonomy in retail logistics, helping shape industry standards and drive innovation at scale. You will partner work closely with Tech & Product teams, Real Estate, Government Affairs, Store Operations, Last Mile Delivery, and external technology partners to bring new markets online successfully. The position is based in Bentonville, AR and reports to the Sr. Director, Drone Delivery. You’ll make an impact by… Defining and executing Walmart’s drone delivery market expansion and site readiness strategy, ensuring sites are selected, entitled, built, and fully ready for handoff to Operations for Day 1 launch Leading data-informed market and site prioritization in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders to support program footprint growth. Driving end-to-end site readiness across permitting, construction, vendor infrastructure, and site acceptance, ensuring regulatory and operational compliance. Serving as the central owner for cross-functional coordination, proactively managing dependencies, risks, and timelines across internal teams and external partners. Establishing scalable processes, standards, and governance models that enable repeatable, efficient site launches at scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience leading cross-functional initiatives spanning strategy, execution, and operational readiness.
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 5 years’ experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area.
  • Option 2: 7 years’ experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area.
  • 3 years’ supervisory experience.

  • The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00
  • Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
