The Impact You’ll Be Contributing to Moloco: We are seeking an outstanding attorney with 12+ years of experience in labor, employment, ethics & compliance to join our Legal team as Director, AGC, Employment, Ethics & Compliance. This role will report to the Enterprise Compliance Officer & Associate General Counsel (Employment & Ethics) and serve as the primary legal partner to Moloco’s People team, while also playing a key leadership role in advancing our global ethics, compliance, and third-party risk programs. This role is based near our Menlo Park, CA office and follows a hybrid in-office schedule.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of relevant experience in labor, employment, ethics, and compliance, including a mix of law firm and in-house experience (startup/private company experience preferred).
  • Member in good standing of the California Bar or another bar association with the ability to register as in-house counsel in California.
  • Deep subject matter expertise in U.S. federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong business judgment and risk assessment skills, with the ability to deliver pragmatic, business-oriented solutions.
  • Strong communication and drafting skills, with the ability to advise and influence executive stakeholders, build collaborative cross-functional relationships, and drive execution in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and self-directed, with a hands-on, “roll up your sleeves” approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience leading ethics and compliance programs, including: Drafting and implementing global policies. Conducting sensitive internal investigations and overseeing external investigations. Managing third-party compliance risks (e.g., anti-bribery/corruption, export controls, trade compliance), ideally using structured diligence tools.
  • Experience managing and coordinating global outside counsel to support multi-jurisdictional matters.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the People team to provide counsel on all global employment-related issues, including but not limited to employee policies, training, wage and hour compliance, performance management, leave of absence, discipline and terminations, investigations, and AI governance as it relates to employment use cases (e.g., recruiting, hiring, and performance management).
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of global employment-related disputes and investigations, including litigation, agency claims, subpoenas, and internal ethics matters, while partnering with outside counsel to minimize legal and regulatory risk.
  • Lead the drafting, review, and ongoing enhancement of global ethics, compliance, and employment policies and templates, including the Code of Conduct, employee handbooks, employee and contractor agreements, and related governance frameworks.
  • Partner cross-functionally with global People, Finance, Security, Product, and business leaders to proactively identify legal, compliance and governance risks, assess impact, and drive practical, defensible solutions.
  • Support and mature Moloco’s third-party risk management program, including onboarding and optimization of a third-party due diligence platform, and assessment of anti-bribery & corruption (ABC), export controls, and trade compliance risks.
  • Work closely with outside counsel to deliver coordinated, practical guidance to global stakeholders on employment, ethics, ABC, export, and trade compliance matters.
