About The Position

We are looking for a seasoned Director to lead our waterfall‐modeling and investor‐reporting function for a large and growing portfolio of residential and commercial solar assets. You will set the strategic direction for cash‐waterfall analytics, covenant compliance, and servicer reporting—overseeing managers and analysts and partnering closely with Finance, Tax, Legal, Operations, and external stakeholders (lenders, auditors, investors). As the senior leader in this area, you will ensure robust controls, drive process innovations, and represent SunStrong in executive forums and investor discussions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or Master’s in Finance preferred
  • 10+ years of structured‐finance modeling, investor reporting, or asset‐management experience, including 4+ years in leadership roles
  • Deep expertise in multi‐tranche waterfall modeling, covenant compliance analysis, and complex cash‐flow projections
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (VBA/Macros) and exposure to BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) or scripting (Python)
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a track record of presenting to senior executives and investor committees
  • Strong organizational acumen, attention to detail, and a proven ability to implement control frameworks

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Development
  • Define the vision and operating model for waterfall‐modeling and reporting teams; recruit, mentor, and develop direct‐report managers
  • Establish clear performance metrics, goals, and career pathways for analysts and associates
  • Drive a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Strategic Oversight of Waterfall Modeling
  • Own the end‐to‐end design, governance, and validation of multi-tranche cash‐waterfall models across all portfolios
  • Ensure robust stress-testing, covenant monitoring (CDR, DSCR, yield tests), and timely escalation/remediation of exceptions
  • Sponsor automation and technology initiatives (Excel/VBA, Python, Power BI) to scale modeling capabilities
  • Investor Reporting & Relationship Management
  • Oversee preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual servicer reports, distribution statements, and compliance certificates
  • Serve as senior liaison to debt and equity investors: lead investor calls, present performance results, and address escalated inquiries
  • Collaborate on covenant amendments, waivers, and contract negotiations where necessary
  • Controls, Audit & Compliance
  • Drive the design and implementation of a rigorous control framework around data ingestion, model updates, and report issuance
  • Coordinate and support third‐party audits, regulatory reviews, and internal compliance assessments
  • Ensure documentation of assumptions, methodologies, and reconciliation processes is audit-ready
  • New Portfolio Onboarding & M&A Support
  • Lead the configuration of waterfall models and reporting systems for acquisitions, refinancings, and portfolio integrations
  • Partner with M&A, Tax, and Legal teams on diligence, financial close, and seamless transition into ongoing asset management
  • Define playbooks and checklists to accelerate post-close ramp-up and data integration
  • Process Innovation & Thought Leadership
  • Identify opportunities to standardize workflows, automate manual tasks, and leverage analytics for deeper performance insights
  • Publish executive-level dashboards, market commentary, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership and investors
  • Stay ahead of industry trends in structured finance, renewables markets, and reporting best practices
