About The Position

ADP is seeking a Director of Application Development for their NextGen Workforce Management (WFM) products. This hybrid role based in Alpharetta, GA, involves leading a software engineering and quality team, overseeing technology strategy, software engineering processes, and ensuring high code quality. The director will manage both insourced and outsourced talent, collaborate with various teams, and drive innovation while maintaining a focus on client needs and team engagement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 12+ years of substantial engineering experience with 7+ years in leadership roles.
• Experience in Agile environments and product-focused technology organizations.
• Strong knowledge of full-stack software development and modern technology stacks.
• Practical experience with cloud providers, particularly AWS.
• Excellent team building and motivational skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with machine learning and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Java, Spring, AngularJS, and JavaScript.
• Knowledge of container orchestration and scheduling frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage engineering and quality teams, providing overall technical direction.
• Inspire and coach engineering managers and team members, fostering an inclusive environment.
• Establish software engineering standards and guidelines for the organization.
• Drive quality through automated testing and release governance.
• Monitor and manage the budget for software engineering teams.
• Collaborate across multiple business units to develop solutions for key business initiatives.
• Present issues and risks to management with proposed mitigation strategies.
• Continuously improve software development productivity and team morale.
