About The Position

This position directs multiple teams accountable for designing, developing, and implementing complex enterprise software solutions for Member/Provider Portals and/or Data Integrations. The Director provides technical guidance to engineering teams and implements best practice development methods. The role involves managing a large portfolio of new development, enhancements, and maintenance projects to successful completion, navigating challenges related to quality, schedule, competing priorities, and cost management. The Director supports established organizational objectives by developing goals and strategies for the engineering teams and leads and directs multiple teams of Senior Application Development Engineers on large-scale complex Application Development projects/programs. Responsibilities also include participating in technical architecture meetings, defining processes for risk identification and evaluation, maintaining relationships with Application and Infrastructure Management operational groups, and partnering with Security and SRE teams to ensure compliance with security and change management policies. The Director leads the design and development of proof of concept and prototype application environments, manages staff through recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training, and develops personal growth opportunities for team members. They establish operational objectives, delegate tasks to Developers, provide expert knowledge to develop staff capabilities, and communicate departmental objectives to inspire and motivate team members to achieve results, holding them accountable to meet functional, quality, and timeline objectives.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of related experience, including prior management experience
  • Or equivalent experience acquired through accomplishments of applicable knowledge, duties, scope and skill reflective of the level of this position

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical guidance to engineering teams and implements best practice development methods

  • Supports established organizational objectives by developing goals and strategies for the engineering teams
  • Leads and directs multiple teams consisting of Senior Application Development Engineers responsible with large-scale complex Application Development projects / programs for Member/Provider Portals and Data Integrations
  • Participates in technical architecture meetings with the team and providers feedback to the team
  • Defines processes to identify and evaluate risks and participates in mitigation and control activities
  • Maintains good relationships with Application and Infrastructure Management operational groups
  • Partners with Security and SRE teams, makes sure all security and change management policies are followed
  • Leads the design and development of proof of concept and prototype application environments
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
