About The Position

Capital One is looking for a Director to support the strategic intent and operational impacts for the AML Compliance Risk Management group. The Director will report directly to the Managing Vice President of AML Compliance Risk Management and will support cross-functional team engagement on strategic initiatives and operational impacts. This strategic position focuses on operational processes of the Compliance organization impacted by the strategic intent which will include convergence of business-as-usual processes and Discover integration. Being effective in this pivotal role requires a natural ability to build strong, trusting partnerships across the organization and drive progress on key strategic initiatives, cross-functional projects and effective communications on behalf of the senior leadership team. The role requires a highly resourceful and organized individual who thrives in a fast-moving, complex environment requiring strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and comfort with ambiguity in a fast-changing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 8 years of experience in risk management or anti-money laundering (AML) compliance within financial services

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Compliance, Risk, Legal, Finance, or Accounting
  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) certification or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and analytical tools

Responsibilities

  • Monitor for and engage on emerging risks and escalations materializing out of BAU and Discover integration activities
  • Oversee and own the preparation of key compliance presentations and reports
  • Plan, manage and help execute workforce change management processes
  • Accountable in ensuring cross-functional objectives are well defined, supporting content is prepared and working sessions are well managed and organized
  • Run and improve business cadence including strategic planning, budgeting, setting and improving processes, monitoring execution, driving accountability and providing visibility of progress against goals and objectives
  • Focus to ensure the leadership time is best leveraged and effectively meeting the scope of the task or assignment; possibly applying inquiry and effective challenge if goals, objectives and the timelines are not met
  • Coordination and orchestration of commitments to the MVP and of the direct reports; ensuring alignment among stakeholders, and where alignment is not reached, proposing recommendations of mitigating approaches
  • Provide insightful, data-driven recommendations to the MVP and the leadership team
  • Perform MVP-Initiated Projects independently including projects that are time sensitive and require a high degree of confidentiality
  • Proactively identify gaps and issues across the organization and recommend solutions and operational programs to address them
