About The Position

The Director of the Ambulatory Surgery Center develops and implements strategic programs to expand volumes, increase market presence, and enhance financial performance. Ensures the preparation and presentation of relevant materials to the Surgery Center Board of Directors for review and approval. Provides oversight and implementation of quality standards, including physician re-credentialing and reappointments. Takes ownership of planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the overall operations and financial performance of the assigned Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Requirements

Five years of leadership experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting
Working knowledge of clinical and administrative operations of an ambulatory surgery center
Knowledge of physician credentialing, medical staff privileges, quality assurance, and local/state/federal regulations regarding operations of an ambulatory surgery center
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (or 4 years of experience in lieu of degree)

Nice To Haves

Experience working in or supporting an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), with strong knowledge of outpatient surgical workflows, perioperative processes, and regulatory requirements, as well as experience with supply chain operations including inventory management, vendor coordination, and cost optimization.

Responsibilities

Develops and implements strategic programs to expand volumes, increase market presence, and enhance financial performance.
Works in conjunction with and support of Inova Health System Development personnel in the development of other opportunities to expand surgery center activities in other areas of the regional market.
Routinely identifies and meets with surgeons who have the potential to utilize, or increase their utilization of, the Surgery Center.
Ensures that routine connections are made with key staff members of surgeons' offices to determine opportunities to improve service and expand Surgery Center utilization.
Serves as a primary liaison between the Surgery Center, the community, and other local healthcare providers.
Responsible for ensuring the preparation and presentation of relevant materials to the Surgery Center Board of Directors for review and approval.
Coordinates quarterly Board meetings and ensures the preparation and presentation of relevant materials to the Board for review and approval.
Takes responsibility for ensuring appropriate licensures and accreditations are maintained for the Surgery Center. Coordinates, in conjunction with Inova Quality and Risk Management leadership, the development and implementation of policies and procedures for measuring and assuring quality clinical services at the Surgery Center.
Oversees Ambulatory Surgery Center to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but is not limited to, preparing and implementing business strategy to achieve the organization’s goals, ensuring legal compliance, communicating and collaborating with stakeholders, managing employment decisions and contributions of supporting team members, and managing departmental budget and fiscal success.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
