About The Position

US Heart and Vascular is looking for an Ambulatory Surgery Center Director to join our team Cardiology Specialists of Acadiana in Lafayette, LA Position Summary The Ambulatory Surgery Center Director (ASC Director) coordinates and directs all activities of the ASC in accordance with regulatory requirements and accepted financial performance standards. The ASC Director plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and oversees all administrative and clinical operations of the ASC, directing the performance of clinical and non-clinical support staff, facilitating the education and training of staff, and partnering with the Governing Board to coordinate patient and staff service functions. The ASC Director works collaboratively with the VP of Ancillary Services and other Functional Support Team Leads to ensure effective operation of the ASC, including supervision and direction of nursing care, patient care, scheduling, and billing as specified by ASC P&P and stated objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in healthcare management (Cardiology experience preferred)
  • Proven history of team collaboration and delivery on objectives
  • ASC and/or Cath Lab management experience preferred
  • Current licensure in the state of employment as a registered nurse preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current in ACLS, BCLS and CPR certification or should be obtained within an initial 4 months of hire preferred.
  • Demonstrates managerial competence and possesses two or more years of management experience in an ASC, OR, or Cath Lab.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of surgery center business operations.
  • Experience participating in and/or preparing for regulatory inspections/surveys.
  • Strong knowledge and functional understanding of surgical equipment.
  • Working knowledge of standard accounting principles, financial statement review, and budget development
  • Demonstrates tact and understanding when dealing with patients, team members and members of other disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability for self-direction and initiative.
  • Ability to recognize and define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and correct errors.
  • Possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively & efficiently with good follow-through skills.

Responsibilities

  • Finance & Operations Develop and monitor standards and goals of pre-op, OR and post-op care.
  • Ensure services are compliant with P&P and standards set forth by regulatory & accrediting agencies, and safety programs.
  • Oversee daily clinical and administrative operations of the ASC to ensure patient safety, quality improvement & highest quality of care.
  • Act in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the ASC, recommending, developing and maintaining strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Oversee credentialing per Medical Staff Bylaws; collaborate with the Medical Director and QAPI Committee as appropriate.
  • Maintain ASC statistics and KPIs for regular reporting and continuous performance improvement.
  • Conduct ASC business in an ethical and lawful manner, reporting any knowledge of real or potential fraud or abuse.
  • Adhere to ASC’s professional conduct policies while maintaining patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of pre-op, OR and post-op equipment and supplies.
  • Oversee financial performance of the facility, develop operations budget and capital budget, and make operational decisions that support the Center's financial goals and objectives.
  • Review vendor and/or service contracts to assure completeness, accuracy, and appropriate terms.
  • Monitor patient engagement and experience, overseeing the ASC’s patient satisfaction survey and results and developing performance improvement plans where necessary.
  • Stakeholder & Industry Relations Serve as liaison between the ASC, local hospitals, referring providers and the community.
  • Serve as liaison between the Governing Board, medical staff, facility staff, and USHV.
  • Maintain effective relationships with physicians, Executive Leadership, and corporate functional support teams to ensure effective operation and management of the ASC.
  • Foster a network of peers and industry experts to remain current with industry trends and changes in the healthcare environment, such as finance/reimbursement, legislative issues, and best practices, acting accordingly in the best interest of the Center.
  • Maintain memberships in professional associations relevant to ambulatory surgery and healthcare administration.
  • Coordinate and serve on Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) Committee, ensuring successful implementation of the QAPI program, Infection Control Program, Pharmacy Program, Radiology Program and other components of clinical services as appropriate.
  • Work in conjunction with the QAPI Committee and the Governing Board in the evaluation and development of existing and new surgical service lines, and the recruitment of new physicians.
  • Human Resources & Staff Management Effectively manage workforce to ensure adequate coverage of ASC, cost control, and efficiency while maintaining quality and patient safety.
  • Oversee HR and workforce performance matters including performance reviews and disciplinary action.
  • Ensure high employee morale and professionalism in a positive, patient-centered environment.
  • Oversee non-clinical and clinical staff recruiting, selection, training, supervision, and retention.
  • Foster an environment which promotes staff growth and development.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and/or educational sessions to ensure protocols are executed as expected.
