The Director of Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy leads the development, implementation and maintenance of clinical pharmacy programs for outpatient pharmacy operations, specialty pharmacy services, and ambulatory pharmacy services across the various divisions of AdventHealth. This role will lead the development and execution of strategic and operational pharmacy initiatives in collaboration with a cross-functional team of pharmacy, clinical, operating, and business leaders of AdventHealth and outside vendors relationships as deemed appropriate. It requires a dynamic individual with expertise in medication therapy management, specialty pharmacy integration, and EHR driven care pathways to ensure seamless delivery of pharmacy services that enhance patient outcomes. The leader will provide clinical knowledge during assigned meetings and organize the participation of other pharmacy staff from various teams. They will coordinate educational activities and participate in other multidisciplinary committees as needed.

  • Serves as a clinical resource and consultant in medication therapy management and related quality programs.
  • Assist Executive Director of Pharmacy in daily duties and serves as an extension in clinical relationships.
  • Lead and support the development and implementation of clinical procedures and care pathways within AH clinics.
  • Supports medical management and clinical/quality initiatives for pharmacy and prescription plan.
  • Collaborate with facility and regional leaders to achieve stated goals and accountabilities.
  • Lead Pharmacy staff to execute processes and procedures effectively, providing leadership and guidance on pharmacy practice.
  • Determine daily goals and specific duty assignments for department staff and monitor prescription workflow queues for appropriate and timely follow through.
  • Conduct extensive interviews for new hire recruitment ensuring the right person is hired based on qualifications and skillset as they would fit best within the organization.
  • Maintain smart vendor and customer relationships by conducting business interactions with speed, knowledge and professionalism.
  • Maintain stable performance under pressure or opposition, handle stress in a manner that is acceptable to others and the organization.
  • Responsible for the integrity of patient sensitive material included in prescription orders, ensuring no violation of patient protected health information.
  • Monitors the results of delegations, assignments, or projects, considers the skills, knowledge, and experience of the assigned individual and the characteristics of the assignment or project.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of changes in Pharmacy practice including pharmacy laws and drugs, then applies this knowledge in the performance of daily activities. Provides educational updates for Pharmacy staff regarding these changes.
  • Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Acted as a Pharmacist-in-Charge of retail or hospital pharmacy for 2+ years.
  • Master's in healthcare or business-related field.
  • Knowledge of the 340B program and specialty models and respective finance functions.
