About The Position

The Director of Advanced Manufacturing will define and lead PacSci EMC’s enterprise advanced manufacturing strategy, designing the factories, systems, and automation capabilities required to scale a high-mix, low-volume, highly regulated defense manufacturing environment. This is a future-state, builder role reporting directly to the President of PacSci. The Director will determine what to automate, where to invest, and how to sequence capital and capability development as PacSci stands up new production sites, modernizes existing facilities, and scales mission-critical programs. The role carries enterprise visibility and influence, with the opportunity to shape manufacturing capability beyond a single site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience, including 7+ years in leadership roles spanning advanced manufacturing, automation, or industrial engineering.
  • Proven experience standing up new production sites, lines, or major manufacturing capabilities.
  • Demonstrated success leading automation and digital manufacturing initiatives in complex, regulated environments.
  • Strong judgment in evaluating and sequencing capital investments for manufacturing and automation.
  • Deep knowledge of automation, robotics, and digital manufacturing systems.
  • Strong command of Lean, Kaizen, and structured problem-solving methodologies (Shingijutsu experience or equivalent preferred).
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations.
  • Executive-level communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, medical devices, or similarly regulated industries.
  • The essential duties of this position require adherence to U.S. Government export control regulations. Accordingly, candidates must either be U.S. Persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, or protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) or be prepared to collaborate with the company in securing the necessary U.S. government export authorizations. Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the enterprise advanced manufacturing roadmap aligned to growth, defense program demand, and long-term strategy.
  • Architect the future-state manufacturing model, including site strategy, production footprint optimization, and scalable system design.
  • Lead the stand-up of new production sites and lines, from concept through qualification and ramp.
  • Drive build-vs-buy-vs-partner decisions for automation, robotics, and digital manufacturing investments.
  • Identify and deploy advanced manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies where they deliver measurable value in a high-mix environment.
  • Lead lean transformation and continuous improvement to improve throughput, first-pass yield, and cost of poor quality.
  • Ensure all manufacturing systems and processes meet AS9100, ITAR, DFARS, and DoD requirements.
  • Build and lead a high-performing advanced manufacturing and automation organization.
  • Serve as the enterprise thought leader for advanced manufacturing, advising the President and executive leadership on capital planning and capability development.
  • Establish KPIs and governance to track performance, risk, and return on advanced manufacturing investments.
