Job Summary: Reporting to the AVP of Accreditation and Patient Safety, the Director of Accreditation and Patient Safety provides leadership and directs the execution of the strategic imperatives to support ongoing continual regulatory readiness and patient safety initiatives. This position works across all units/departments of the health system (including but not limited to: Clinical care areas, clinical support departments, facilities, medical staff etc.). This is a highly visible role across the organization and routinely interacts with all levels of staff and leadership.

Requirements

  • Required Experience: Seven plus years of related healthcare experience.
  • Proven track record of leading change in a highly matrixed organization preferred
  • Able to pass the medical evaluation to wear respiratory protection.
  • Able to wear a respirator, if required, while performing assigned duties.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in clinical area required; Master’s degree preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Training / Certification / Licensure: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or like certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the attainment of the organizations’ goals.
  • Provide input on strategy, participate in decision-making related to key issues, and assure dissemination and spread of successful quality improvement projects throughout the organization.
  • Participate in developing policies and procedures, monitoring performance, developing and reviewing metrics, assessing and prioritizing risk, conducting mock inspections and reporting results to senior management.
  • Provide or assist with education and training when required.
  • Maintain proficiency in NJ Department of Health, CMS, and Joint Commission regulatory requirements. Keeping abreast of the latest trends, policies, regulations, and best practices.
  • Collaborates with leadership to make proactive changes to the organization to ensure we are on track to meet the changing environment.
  • Perform scheduled audits.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and auditing of all safety programs to ensure align with our Now Plan and G&Os.
  • Support compliance projects as needed.
  • Assist the AVP of Accreditation and Patient Safety with RCA and improvement process, with a focus on improving systems and reducing opportunity for human failure.
