About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to lead our accounting operations and support the controller in ensuring a high-performing, efficient, and compliant accounting function. The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands-on leader with deep GAAP expertise, strong operational understanding, and experience managing teams in large, fast-paced, or high growth environments. This role will oversee accounting managers and staff, drive process improvements, support operational decision making, and play a key role in the month-end close and financial reporting process. The Director of Accounting will report to the Controller.

Requirements

  • CPA required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including team leadership
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Strong understanding of accounting operations, close cycles, reconciliations, and internal controls
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams

Responsibilities

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies and procedures
  • Review and analyze financial statements, account reconciliations, and variance reports
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure audit readiness
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals across the division
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance management, and structured development plans
  • Oversee workload planning, delegation, and review cycles for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
  • Build a high-performing accounting team that can scale with the organization
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support system implementations and enhancements
  • Drive standardization of accounting practices across business units
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses to audit requests
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure consistent application of U.S. GAAP across the team
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and process documentation within accounting operations
  • Support the Controller in ensuring the integrity and reliability of financial reporting
  • Partner closely with operations, FP&A, and other departments to provide accounting insights that support decision making
  • Offer technical accounting guidance for new business activities, operational initiatives, and process changes
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, streamline workflows, and leverage system capabilities
  • Review financial results and key metrics to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities
  • Prepare and provide meaningful analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning
  • Support the Controller with acquisitions and review of 3rd party valuations. Also support the Controller with reporting deliverables and presentations for leadership
