The Director of Accounting is a senior leader within Komatsu Finance, responsible for guiding the accounting and finance function while serving as a trusted partner across the business. This role combines technical expertise with strong leadership, overseeing financial reporting, audits, and compliance while mentoring and developing a high-performing team. The Director will also play a key role in driving transformation initiatives and shaping the financial strategy that supports Komatsu's long-term success.

  • Lead all accounting and finance operations, including balance sheet, profit & loss, internal/external audits, day to day accounting, policies and procedures.
  • Manage and review balance sheet accounts, including receivables, reconciliations, and key financial metrics.
  • Serve as the technical accounting subject matter expert for Komatsu Financial and support the Komatsu North America team.
  • Partner with leadership to evaluate and communicate the financial impact of complex commercial proposals.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring clear communication of results to Komatsu North America and Komatsu Limited leadership.
  • Collaborate with operations to drive process improvements, implement best practices, and provide actionable financial insights.
  • Support key transformation initiatives, such as ERP implementation, IFRS adoption, AI strategy and implementation, and other enterprise-wide projects.
  • Align closely with the corporate technical team to ensure accurate accounting treatment and reporting, including ongoing management of CECL.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, IFRS and internal control requirements, maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity.
  • Develop, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with auditors, regulators, and other external partners to support effective financial governance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience with exposure to the financial services industry.
  • Experience performing accounting research and in-depth knowledge of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley. IFRS knowledge also preferred.
  • Experience managing audits, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting in a corporate environment.
  • Prior experience with Info Lease and SAP a plus.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with attention to detail and accuracy. Healthy professional skepticism and inquisitiveness. Continuous improvement mindset.
