About The Position

The Director of Academic Advising and Student Success at Riverside Community College District is responsible for overseeing all functions and activities of the Engagement Centers. This role involves planning, developing, and administering departmental policies and services, while providing professional support in various administrative capacities. The director will work closely with the Dean to ensure effective day-to-day operations and enhance student engagement and success.

Requirements

  • A master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Two years of administrative and/or leadership experience in student services, including direct supervision of student services programs.
  • Knowledge of college-level procedures and effective practices related to student services.
  • Understanding of federal and state regulations, community college policies, and accreditation standards.
  • Experience in student counseling methods and intervention strategies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience in planning and budget preparation and control.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes full management responsibility for all academic Engagement Center programs, services, and activities, including academic advisement and career assistance.
  • Develops and supports services that enhance student engagement and implements strategies for student success.
  • Coordinates and implements support services and intervention programs for students lacking educational objectives.
  • Oversees all areas supported through the academic Engagement Centers.
  • Aligns strategies, goals, and objectives with the college's guided pathways framework using data-driven plans for student success.
  • Drives collaboration across college divisions to improve student persistence and retention programs.
  • Leads, directs, supervises, and evaluates the work of classified professionals and students on projects and initiatives.
  • Develops and manages budgets for assigned areas, maintaining fiscal controls and preparing necessary reports.
  • Assists faculty in completing Student Learning Outcomes and ensures accountability for programs and services.
  • Ensures compliance with categorical regulations and interprets District, state, and federal policies to maintain program compliance.
  • Generates statistical data and reports related to Student Service programs.
  • Serves as a lead participant in various college committees.
