About The Position
Mercury Broadband is seeking a dedicated and skilled Directional Drill/Vibratory Plow Operator to join our Fiber Services Team in Fort Wayne, IN. As a leading provider of high-speed Internet and digital phone service, Mercury Broadband has established a strong presence in the Midwest, focusing on delivering reliable broadband access to rural communities. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the installation and maintenance of our fiber network, ensuring that we meet the needs of our customers effectively and professionally. In this full-time position, you will be responsible for the installation of fiber plant equipment at designated Mercury premises, assisting with new fiber plant construction, including vaults, pedestals, and conduit. You will primarily operate underground drill rigs and vibratory plows, ensuring that all work is conducted in accordance with safety guidelines and installation protocols. Your role will also involve interacting with customers, landowners, and inspectors, representing Mercury Broadband in a professional manner while troubleshooting customer equipment and resolving network outages. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, customer service-oriented, and possess strong communication skills. You will work closely with the Fiber Team Leader and Fiber Foreman, assisting in training OSP Technicians and managing vital business relationships. This position requires a commitment to following directions, maintaining a clean driving record, and demonstrating basic mechanical skills, as well as proficiency in computer networking and the use of various communication equipment.
