Sweetwater, the nation's number one online retailer of music instruments and pro audio gear, is seeking to add an experienced, knowledgeable, and driven Direct Tax Manager to our growing Corporate Finance Team! In this role, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of State Income Tax compliance and planning as well as some aspects of the Federal Income Tax returns for Sweetwater. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of Multi-State tax laws and regulations, strong analytical abilities, and proven leadership skills.   • Lead State Income Tax Compliance & reporting efforts across the Corporate Tax team
  • Responsible for managing the accurate and timely preparation and filing of all Multi-State Partnership and Corporate Income Tax returns, including extensions and estimated payments
  • Oversee the reconciliation of fixed asset records to ensure proper depreciation and basis adjustments for Federal and State Income Tax purposes
  • Ensure compliance with State Apportionment methodologies
  • Use Cost of Performance and Market-Based Sourcing to optimize tax positions
  • Support the preparation of Stat Tax provisions and related disclosures as needed
  • Research and analyze State tax laws and regulations to provide guidance on complex tax issues
  • Review and analyze financial statements for tax implications and ensure accurate reporting
  • Identify and evaluate State Income Tax opportunities and risks
  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize State Income Tax liabilities and optimize tax efficiency
  • Manage and support the calculation and documentation of Federal and State Research & Development (R&D) tax credits
  • Manage, draft, and coordinate responses to State Income Tax audits, gathering information and working with auditors to resolve issues
  • Bachelor's of Science in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Strong, in-depth working knowledge of Multi-State Partnership and Corporate Income Tax laws and regulations, including Apportionment and Nexus considerations
  • Experience with tax preparation software and research tools
  • 5+ years in a senior or management position overseeing other Tax Accounting professionals in a corporate setting
  • Must have strong attention to detail
  • Experience in a Private Equity-owned corporate environment is preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and modeling
  • Relocation to our state-of-the-art campus in Fort Wayne, IN is required
