Many People... One Strong Community... Join Our Growing Team! Mozaic (A Chapter of The Arc NY) is seeking a full-time DSP Trainer. The Direct Support Professional Trainer is responsible for assisting Direct Support Professionals in successfully applying the knowledge and skills gained in classroom-based training to their day-to-day work. This role ensures that learning is effectively transferred into practice by providing guidance, coaching, and real-time support in the work setting. As a subject matter expert, mentor, and coach, the DSP Trainer reinforces organizational standards, state regulations, and best practices while promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth for staff supporting individuals supported by Mozaic.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a DSP or in a similar role within IDD services.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt training methods to diverse learning styles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Commitment to person-centered practices.
  • Leadership and team-building skills.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Education, or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in training, coaching, or staff development strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Training Development & Delivery Assists newly hired DSP's in applying their newly acquired skills obtained from the DSP Skills training.
  • Explains new concepts while reinforcing prior training, and provides ongoing skills development opportunities for employees.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance Ensure all training meets state and federal requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain accurate training records and monitor DSP certification status.
  • Mentorship & Support Serve as a resource and coach for DSPs, providing guidance on best practices and troubleshooting challenges in the field.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to identify training needs and performance gaps.
  • Program Evaluation & Improvement Assess training effectiveness through feedback, observation, and performance metrics.
  • Continuously update training materials to reflect current regulations and industry trends.
