Damar is seeking a Direct Support Technician who is excited to provide direct support to children at our newest residential location in Richmond, Indiana. This is a great opportunity for someone eager to start or grow their career in the field while contributing to the launch of a brand-new program and helping establish our presence in a new community. Damar is eager to bring our experience and expertise to support families in the eastern part of the state who are navigating some of life’s most challenging circumstances. A Direct Support Technician provides hands-on care and daily support to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, assisting them with daily routines, skill development, and overall well-being throughout the day. We provide training, support, and opportunities for growth, so you can build a meaningful career while making a difference!

Requirements

  • Be at least 21 to work in our Children's Residential program
  • Be able to provide formal proof of a high school diploma or GED
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical
  • Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening
  • Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal offenses

Responsibilities

  • Effectively respond to and manage crisis situations
  • Consistently implement behavior management plans to reduce maladaptive behaviors
  • Promote and assist with the development of daily living, self-help and social skills
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment
  • Conduct and supervise recreational and life enrichment activities
  • Complete required documentation daily, in a professional manner
