As a Direct Support Professional at People Inc., you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. Your primary responsibility will be to uphold the dignity and independence of the persons served by respecting their character, choices, strengths, interests, and needs. You will ensure a safe, healthy, and clean environment while planning, coordinating, and implementing meaningful activities that promote independence, inclusion, and productivity. This includes assisting with daily living activities, personal care needs, and engaging in recreational activities such as games, music, and art. In this position, you will be expected to demonstrate a positive and caring attitude towards the individuals you serve, their families, and your colleagues. You will be responsible for completing all necessary tasks to ensure the health and safety of each person receiving services. This may involve safely transporting individuals when approved, performing daily site cleaning, food preparation, and laundry as needed. You will also assist individuals in social and recreational activities, help with homework assignments, and complete daily documentation in compliance with OPWDD and agency standards. Flexibility is key in this role, as you may be assigned to various shifts, including day, late afternoon, evening, overnight, or weekend shifts. You will participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and other agency meetings to stay compliant with agency policies and procedures. Additionally, you will be responsible for administering medications and performing CPR and Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP-R) as required. Your commitment to the agency's mission and your ability to adapt to different work functions and hours will be essential for success in this role.
