About The Position

Hands of Heartland is looking for compassionate and caring individuals to work with the people we support as a Direct Support Professional (DSP). We are hiring for residential DSP positions in the West Point area! What You’ll Do: Work directly with individuals with developmental disabilities in a variety of settings to ensure they have a meaningful life. As a DSP you will assist individuals with day to day living activities and developing skills in a home environment and in community settings.

Requirements

Must be 18 years old.
Must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
Must be able to pass all background checks.
Experience not required.
Ability to work independently in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
Flexible and willing to adapt to change.
Know the value of communication.
Desire to support people and encourage them to reach goals.

Responsibilities

Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, dressing, mobility, and meal preparation, based on the individual’s level of need.
Support the individual in developing and maintaining skills, which could include money management, household chores, self-advocacy, and communication. Based on individual's needs, goals, and support plan.
Implement goals and objectives from the individual’s person-centered support plan and document progress as required.
Monitor and promote the individual’s health and well-being while following safety protocols. Ensure individuals are treated with dignity and respect at all times.
Encourage social interaction and community inclusion through meaningful activities and relationship building.
This position requires you to transport individuals in a motor vehicle.
