Burton Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential services to individuals with disabilities and special needs, assisting over 500 people across multiple counties. This full-time, first shift Direct Support Professional (DSP) position is part of Burton Center's Day Program, with hours ranging from 7:00am to 4:15pm, totaling 40 hours per week. The DSP role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for adults with disabilities and special needs by implementing person-centered support and effective training programs. Responsibilities include encouraging independence and community engagement, providing direct care for self-help skills and personal hygiene, which may involve toileting, changing incontinence briefs, administering medication, and feeding assistance. DSPs also promote a positive and healthy lifestyle through teaching from a designated curriculum, following behavioral support plans, and facilitating participation in planned outings, hobbies, or activities. The role involves using a Chromebook for tracking objectives and completing progress reports via the online Therap system. Comprehensive training will be provided for driving Burton Center vehicles, operating wheelchair lifts safely, utilizing therapeutic options, and obtaining Basic Life Support and MedTech certifications.
